Rams Squeak by Evangels in Series Finale

Ft. Worth, Texas – The Texas Wesleyan University Rams scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to slip by the Mid-America Christian University Evangels 4-3 in the rubber game of a three-game series today (Mar. 13) in Ft. Worth, Texas.

The Evangels led 3-2 heading into the ninth when Hayden Muns hit a one-out single that was followed by pinch runner Luke Zrostlik promptly putting himself in scoring position by stealing second base.

Lorenzo Lynch then came on to pinch hit and delivered an RBI single that plated Zrostlik with the tying run and advanced to all the way to third on an error.

With Wyatt Glasgow now on in relief of starter Junior Obeso, Ryan Adam put down a bunt that scored Lynch for the game-winning run for the Rams.

The Rams jumped on top first on run-scoring hits from Muns and Adam in the second inning before an RBI double by Colt Pickens put the Evangels on the board in the third.

MACU (11-10, 4-2 SAC) grabbed the lead when an RBI by Jerry McNew tied the score in the fifth and then Ryan Moseley drove in the go-ahead run in the sixth.

Obeso struck out seven in his 8 2/3 innings on the mound, with four runs allowed and three walks.

Stephen Yancey blanked the Evangels over the final two innings to get the win and Blake Seaton was three-of-four at the plate for TWU (12-12, 3-3 SAC).

The Evangels will next be in action at home Tuesday afternoon (Mar. 15) against former SAC member and current NCAA D-II school Oklahoma Baptist University at 2 p.m.
