GREENVILLE, SC – Just hours before helping the Mid-America Christian University Evangels make history and capture their first-ever NAIA National Championship, senior forward Bryon Miller was named the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Men's Basketball Player of the Week. Miller has now received two of the past three NCCAA Player of the Week awards.
Prior to the national semifinals on Monday night (Mar. 21), Miller averaged 21.3 points per game and over seven rebounds a game to lead the Evangels to the NAIA Fab Four.
Miller scored 26 points with eight boards in an opening round victory before scoring 21 in an 88-80 win over top-seeded Biola University to snap Biola's NAIA-best 11-game winning streak.
The Mesquite, Texas native then recorded a double-double of 17 points and 11 boards as the Evangels defeated Cumberlands (Ky.) in the NAIA quarterfinals.
Once in the Fab Four, Miller had a double-double of 16 points and career-high 12 rebounds in the victory over Campbellsville (Ky.) and then scored 16 more points in the national championship victory over No. 1-ranked Georgetown (Ky.) last night (Mar. 22) and halt their 11-game winning streak.
Miller finished the season third on the team in scoring (13.6 ppg) along with a team-high 90 threes on the season.
