Tate Nabs NAIA All-America Honor

KANSAS CITY – The honors keep coming for the 2015-16 NAIA National Champion Mid-America Christian University Evangels, as today (Mar. 24) senior guard Nick Tate was named a second-team NAIA All-America selection. This marks the sixth straight season the MACU basketball program has had an NAIA All-America performer.

Tate made on an impact all over the court for the Evangels this season, posting a team-high 6.7 rebounds while ranking second on the team in scoring (15.5 ppg), assists (82) and steals (51).

The Sand Springs, Okla. native also shot a team-high 82.1 percent (151-of-184) from the free-throw line.

Tate and the Evangels' surge to the NAIA National Championship included snapping two separate NAIA-best 11-game winning streaks, starting with knocking off top-seeded and No. 3-ranked Biola University in the second round.  The Evangels also beat the top overall seed Georgetown (Ky.) in the memorable championship game.

In addition to capturing the national title, Tate also helped the Evangels to a 28-9 overall record, their most wins since joining the NAIA in 2007.
