OKLAHOMA CITY – Mid-America Christian University senior guard Nick Tate has been selected as the OklahomaSports.Net (OSN) NAIA Player of the Year, announced last night (Mar. 8). Tate is also a first-team All-OSN selection, while junior forward Devonse Reed earned second-team honors.
Tate did a little bit of everything for the Evangels this season, posting team-highs in points (16.5 ppg), rebounds (6.9 rpg) and was second on the team in both assists (70) and steals (43). He also shot a team-high 82 percent (137-of-167) from the free-throw line.
Reed ranked second on the team in scoring with 14.9 points per game and was also second in free-throw percentage (78.1 percent, 82-of-105).
The duo helped the Evangels to a 23-9 overall record this season and a second-place finish in the Sooner Athletic Conference with a 12-6 league record.
It is also expected the Evangels will receive an at-large berth to the NAIA National Tournament, with the NAIA selection show taking place tonight (Mar. 9) at 6 p.m.
