MACU Baseball Inks Aaron Davis and Pedro Varela for 2017 Season

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Mid-America Christian University Baseball Evangels have added Aaron Davis and Pedro Varela to the program for the 2017 season.

Both Davis and Varela come to MACU from Labette Community College (Kan.).

"We are really excited for Aaron and Pedro to join our MACU family, head baseball coach Adrian Savedra said.  "Both of these players will be impact guys for our program and will fit in well to the culture we are building."

Davis, a junior catcher from Inola, Okla., was named the Labette CCC Athlete of the Year and was also a member of the prestigious Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.

A solid student-athlete, Davis was Valedictorian of his graduating class at Inola High School and was also a member of the National Honor Society.

Varela, a junior infielder out of Tulsa, Okla, was an All-Metro performer for the Union High School Redskins.

Davis is the son of Todd and Kelli Davis, while Varela is the son of Pedro and Laura Varela.

Davis and Varela each plan to major in Business Administration at MACU.

The new duo will be joining a program coming off an appearance in the Sooner Athletic Conference postseason tournament that featured the first-ever SAC tourney win in school history.
