OKLAHOMA CITY – Under the guidance of first-year head coach Hannah Moeller, the Mid-America Christian University Lady Evangels will open the 2016-17 season on the road Oct. 25 at Grace University (Neb.)
Following trips to Graceland University (Iowa) and Bethel (Kan.) College, the Lady Evangels will open the home portion of their schedule on Nov. 7 against Central Christian College.
Two nights later (Nov. 9), the Lady Evangels will host Kansas Wesleyan University before competing in the OCU Classic vs. Our Lady of the Lake University and LSU-Shreveport on Nov. 18-19.
After hosting NCAA D-II Northwestern Oklahoma State University on Nov. 22, the Lady Evangels will open up Sooner Athletic Conference action with consecutive home games against Texas Wesleyan University on Dec. 1 and Bacone College on Dec. 3.
The Lady Evangels also face another NCAA D-II opponent on the road when they make the short trek to Edmond, Okla. to face the University of Central Oklahoma in an exhibition matchup on Dec. 10.
A highlight of the season features another exhibition contest against NCAA D-I Oral Roberts University. MACU will play at ORU on Dec. 14 in Tulsa, Okla.
"We are going to learn a lot about ourselves early in the season," Moeller said.
"Playing Northwestern Oklahoma State, UCO, and Oral Roberts University in the first semester will create great and exciting challenges for us early, but we are going to meet those challenges head on together."
The Lady Evangels are also set to ring in the New Year by hosting Bethel on Dec. 31.
In January, the Lady Evangels will be tested with a four-game conference road swing with stops at USAO, Southwestern Assemblies of God University, Bacone College and Southwestern Christian University.
The Lady Evangels will wrap up the regular season with three of their last four at home, hosting SCU, SAGU and Oklahoma City University in that span.
"We are excited to play a handful of games on our home floor in the first month of the season before opening in the SAC in December," Moeller said.
"I believe the highly competitive nature of our non-conference schedule will do nothing but prepare us to compete at a high level in conference play."
