#22 Men's Hoops Rolls Past Ecclesia

OKLAHOMA CITY – The NAIA #22 Mid-America Christian University men's basketball team took to the floor for their final home non-conference game of the year on Saturday afternoon, and the Evangels gave the home crowd a show on Veteran's Day.

MACU (3-2) led wire-to-wire over Ecclesia College (0-5) and they were dominant in almost every aspect of the game as the Evangels rolled to a 104-60 victory.

MACU opened the game on a 16-1 run, and the rout was on. A Javan Perry free throw with 11:10 to go in the first half pushed the lead to 20 for the first time, and the margin surpassed 20 for good at the 5:27 mark of the first half with a pair of charity tosses from Therence Mayimba. MACU led by as many as 28 in the first half, and at intermission, the Evangels held a 52-24 lead.

The second half was more of the same as MACU opened on an 8-2 run, pushing the lead to 34. Justin Bogle made a pair of free throws at the 5:20 mark in the second half to give MACU a 30 point lead again, after Ecclesia had trimmed the margin to 27, and Mid-America continued to expand the lead. The Evangels eventually led by as many as 44, taking the 104-60 victory.

Mayimba and Jordan Rhodes each had 24 points in the game to lead the Evangels, and Bogle (17) and Sawyer (11) also broke into double-figures. Rhodes and Mayimba also shared the team lead in rebounding, grabbing seven boards apiece, and Javan Perry had seven assists in the game.

As a team, MACU burned up the nets to the tune of 56.5% (35-of-62) for the game, and 47.6% (10-of-21) from long range. At the foul line, the Evangels were 24-of-29 (82.8%), and they boasted an assist-to-turnover ratio of better than two-to-one (21 A, 10 TO).

MACU will be back in action on the road on Monday night when they head to future conference rival Langston University, who will join the Sooner Athletic Conference in 2018-19. The Lions and Evangels will tip things up at 7 p.m.
