Greenville, SC – Playing in his first career series, Mid-America Christian University junior catcher Axel Poesmans has earned National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Baseball-Field Player of the Week honors, the organization announced today (Feb. 7).

Poesmans made quite an impression in his debut outing, going two-of-four with a home run and four RBIs against the Texas College Steers last Friday (Feb. 3).

The Hasselt, Belgium native then had two more hits and drove in another run to help the Evangels win 10-0 over the Steers in the opening game of a doubleheader on Saturday (Feb. 4).

Poesmans batted .571 in his seven at-bats, with a 1.000 slugging percentage.

The Evangels have begun the 2017 season 3-1 under second-year head coach Adrian Savedra and are set to host Bethany College (Kan.) later this afternoon.
