KANSAS CITY – Mid-America Christian University junior guard Sarai Rodriguez has been picked as an NAIA All-America Honorable-Mention performer, marking the fifth straight season the MACU women's basketball program has received an NAIA All-America selection.
Rodriguez helped the Evangels to a program-best (as an NAIA school) 23 wins this season, including their best-ever finish (fourth) in the Sooner Athletic Conference and then their first NCCAA Central Regional Championship since the 2010-11 season.
The Austin, Texas native led the Evangels with 19.8 points per game this season, which is tied for the highest ppg average for MACU as an NAIA school and also ranked second in the SAC and fourth in the NAIA.
Along the way, Rodriguez joined the 1,000 point club for her career, the most points in MACU's NAIA history.
Rodriguez also finished the season with 674 total points and 101 threes, both single-season highs for the Evangels since joining the NAIA.
"Words will fail to compliment just how proud of Sarai we are," MACU WBB Head Coach Hannah Moeller said.
"She had an incredible year and I am extremely excited of her and this special accomplishment. I believe beyond any doubt it was well-earned."
"She is a tireless worker who is committed to becoming better every day. I am sure it will be one among many special recognitions. I am proud of her and excited to see what still lies ahead for her in the program."
