WBB Evangels to Host NCCAA Central Regional Starting Friday

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Mid-America Christian University Women's Basketball Evangels will be hosting the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Central Regional Tournament this weekend (Mar. 10-11) inside the Gaulke Activity Center.

The action starts Friday evening (Mar. 10) with the Evangels facing Ecclesia College (Ark.) at 5 pm, followed by a matchup featuring Southwestern Christian University against Crowley's Ridge (Ark.) at 7 pm.

The winners of those two games will then square off in the regional title game Saturday afternoon (Mar. 11) at 1 pm for the right to advance to the NCCAA National Tournament, to be held Mar. 15-18 at Grace College in Winona Lake, Ind.

MACU is set to host the NCCAA Regional after recording it's first-ever 20 win season as an NAIA program and narrowly missing out on the program's first NAIA National Tournament berth.

"I'm disappointed for our girls that we weren't selected for the NAIA Tournament, however I was really proud of their response after watching the selection show," MACU head coach Hannah Moeller said.

"While disappointed, they were positive about what is still ahead for us."

The Evangels, 20-11 on the season, have been led by Sarai Rodriguez's 20.2 points per game and 5.5 assists per game from Mikki Flores. D'Shala Powell has a team-high 6.4 rebounds for MACU.

"Playing in any postseason tournament is a huge deal," Moeller said.

"We're excited to have the NCCAA Regional on our home floor and look forward to competing for a chance to get to the NCCAA National Tournament."

All games in the regional will feature a live broadcast at this LINK.
