WBB Evangels Ink Alexis Shannon for 2017-18 Season

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Mid-America Christian University Women's Basketball Evangels have added Alexis Shannon to the team for the upcoming 2017-18 campaign.

Shannon is a sophomore that comes to MACU from NCAA D-I Florida Atlantic University.

"I am thrilled to welcome Alexis to the MACU Women's Basketball family, we are lucky to have her the next three years," MACU WBB Head Coach Hannah Moeller said.

"She is a tough player who finishes extremely well in traffic and will be a force on the glass for us.  One of the things that make Alexis special is how much tenacity she brings to the floor.  I feel like we can put her in multiple places on the court and she will be successful, there is not a lot she can't do.  I look for her to help us do big things at MACU."

A native of Noblesville, Ind., Shannon played in all 29 games at FAU as a freshman, including eight starting assignments.

She was selected to FAU's all-freshman team and was named the Player of the Game in a home outing against Middle Tennessee State University. She was also a member of the Commissioner's and Dean's Honor Roll at FAU.

Shannon played at Noblesville (Ind.) High School and was an all-state performer while also being named the Hamilton County Sports Daily Co-Player of the Year and receiving the Indiana JR All-Star and Hamilton County MVP honors.

She was also a member of the 1,000 point club at Noblesville HS and finished as the school's third overall leading scorer.

A solid student-athlete, Shannon was an Indiana Academic Honorable-Mention selection.

Shannon is set to join a program on the rise under Moeller.  The Evangels captured their first NCCAA Central Regional championship last season since 2010 and also won 23 games, their most as an NAIA institution.
