OKLAHOMA CITY – The Sooner Athletic Conference announced the 2018 men's basketball all-conference teams on Wednesday afternoon, and Mid-America Christian University placed four players on the lists. The Evangels had an honoree on both the second and third teams, and they had two earn honorable mention status.
Jordan Rhodes earned a nod as a second team All-SAC honoree, and Keyshawn Perkins was named to the All-SAC third team. MACU also had two honorable mention All-SAC players, with Therence Mayimba and Andre Horne each earning places on the honorable mention list.
"I couldn't be more proud of Keyshawn and JR," MACU head coach Josh Gamblin stated. "Their effort and dedication should make all Evangel fans proud. They have been an integral part of our success this year."
Rhodes led the Evangels in scoring this season, averaging 14.6 points per contest. That number ranked 17th among players in the SAC, but both numbers went up slightly in conference play, where Rhodes averaged 14.8 points, which ranked him 15th. He also shot the basketball at a blistering 56.7-percent pace on the year, a number which ranked him third in the league.
Perkins dished out 112 assists and averaged four helpers per contest, both of which ranked fourth in the SAC. He also scored 10.6 points per game as he helped to provide a spark to the Evangels on the offensive end of the floor. Perkins also ranked second among guards in the SAC, pulling in more than six rebounds per game.
Horne and Mayimba neither played an entire season this year, but both made their impact felt as well. Mayimba was averaging 13.8 points per game for MACU when an injury cut his season short, and since entering the lineup at the semester break, Horne has chipped in 12.6 points per contest. Both players shot the basketball at better than 52-percent this season.
