Rollins Promoted to Associate Head Coach

OKLAHOMA CITY – After spending three seasons as an assistant coach under Josh Gamblin for the Mid-America Christian University men's basketball team, Brandon Rollins has been moved up the ladder. Rollins was promoted to Associate Head Coach of the MACU men's basketball team, a move which Gamblin thinks will help continue the program's upward momentum.

"What Brandon has done for our program is not something that I can really put into words," remarked Gamblin. "He loves our kids and is relentless in his approach to help them spiritually, academically, and athletically. Brandon's ability to make our players better in every area has been one of the key ingredients to our success here at MACU."

Rollins joined the staff in 2016 after a one year stint as an assistant at his alma mater, Southwestern Christian University. He followed Gamblin, who had left SCU a year earlier, and the two immediately made an impact on the Evangels. In their first season on the bench, the two helped lead MACU to its first NAIA National Championship, as the Evangels claimed the crown at the 79th Annual Buffalo Funds NAIA Division I Men's Basketball National Championship at Kansas City's historic Municipal Auditorium.

"I want to thank Coach Gamblin and our A.D. Marcus Moeller for this opportunity," Rollins stated. "I greatly appreciate the confidence and trust Coach Gamblin has for me in the program. I am very excited to get the season started and compete again for Sooner Athletic Conference and National Championships."

Rollins has also taken a large portion of the responsibility on in recruiting, helping the Evangels land players like Nick Tate, an NAIA and NCCAA All-American in 2016, Devonse Reed who was named the NAIA National Championship MVP in 2016, and Andre Horne who earned All NCCAA Tournament Honors in 2018. Rollins has also helped recruit 11 All-Sooner Athletic Conference honorees in his three seasons on the bench, including Tate, who was named the SAC's Co-Newcomer of the Year in 2016.

"Brandon has had a very impactful role in our men's basketball program over the past three years," noted MACU Athletics Director Marcus Moeller. "He's a gifted recruiter and on court coach, but most importantly, he has a tremendous ability to meet young men where they're at in life and help lead them spiritually and personally. Brandon's professional future has no ceiling, and we're extremely proud to have him in our MACU family."
