OKLAHOMA CITY – Leading the Mid-America Christian women's basketball team to a pivotal 75-73 overtime victory at Science & Arts last week, senior forward Loralei Siliga was honored with the Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Week award by the conference office on Monday.
Earning her first SAC Player of the Week accolade, Siliga scored a career-best 19 points and ripped down a team-high nine rebounds to lead MACU to an 8-2 start and its first 3-0 start to conference play since the 2013-14 season.
The 5-11 forward from Oakland, Calif. knocked down 7-of-16 from the field while converting a career-high 3-for-5 from the three-point arc and went 2-for-2 from the foul line. Siliga was particularly strong in the opening half, scoring 12 of her 19 points in the first two periods.
Siliga is the first MACU student-athlete this season to earn SAC Player of the Week honors and is the first player other than Alexis Shannon to win the award since Mykayla Flores on Jan. 30, 2017.
Mid-America Christian will return to action on New Year's Eve as the Evangels will host Kansas Wesleyan at 3 p.m. at the Gaulke Activity Center.
