Women’s Soccer Defeats Randall For Fourth Straight Win

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Mid-America Christian women's soccer team closed out a highly successful weekend with a dominant 7-0 victory over Randall University on Saturday afternoon at Evangel Field.

The Evangels scored seven goals in their second consecutive match as junior midfielder Liz Lozano led the attack, scoring a pair of goals for the second straight game. Aimee Bland and Sylvie Willie each scored their first goals of the 2019 season while Alex White, Bayleigh Fink and Nadia Santillan each contributed to the scoring column.

Mid-America Christian (4-2) dominated the opening period by scoring six of their seven goals in the first 45 minutes of regulation.

It didn't take long for Lozano to make her impact felt in the contest. During the third minute, a foul was called on Randall (0-6) inside the box, setting up a penalty kick. Lozano fired her free kick through the bottom left corner of the goal to make a 1-nil MACU advantage.

A few minutes later, Lozano struck again. With the ball in the far left corner, Bland rifled a deep cross in front of the net and Lozano placed a beautiful header out of the reach of the keeper to extend the Evangels' edge to two just 5:23 into the match.

MACU extended its lead to three just moments later. Coming off a long Brooklyn Fink throw-in from the left side to the goal box, Lozano served a beautiful touch pass back to Bayleigh Fink and she fired a shot through the defense to the bottom right corner of the goal, setting the score to 3-nil.

During the 10th minute, Bland added to the scoring onslaught. After Bland's cross from the left corner of the goal box was intercepted by a Lady Saints defender, Bland made a beautiful tackle to regain possession and slipped a shot in to the right corner past the diving keeper to make it a 4-0 game.

In the 32nd minute, Santillan was able to score her second goal in two days. On the Evangels attack, Rachel Bond found the Oklahoma City native in the middle just outside the goal box and she rifled a long shot that found the top right corner of the net past the outreached arms of the Lady Saints goalkeeper to extend the lead to five.

Less than a minute later, MACU added to its lead when Paola Camacho was able to streak down the right side of the field on a breakaway, finding Sylvie Willie open on a cross to the left side of the goal box for an easy put-in to send the Evangels into the half with a 6-0 advantage.

White scored the lone goal for MACU in the second half. The junior midfielder corralled a cleared ball and launched a beautiful long shot that soared into the top left corner of the goal to close out the Evangels scoring.

Mid-America Christian will now have a two week break before its next match as the Evangels will open Sooner Athletic Conference play at home against the University of Science & Arts (Okla.) at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27.
