OKLAHOMA CITY – Mid-America Christian University Athletics has officially announced that it will be expanding its "Team of the Decade," a tradition started by the men's basketball program, to all seven of its current sports as well as men's golf.
Athletic Director Marcus Moeller announces that the MACU Athletic Department will accept open nominations for any student-athletes that competed at MACU during his or her senior season of eligibility. The nomination process will be open to the public and we encourage all fans, students, alumni, faculty and staff to participate.
To qualify for the "Team of the Decade," the nominees must fit the following criteria.
· Competed at MACU between the 2009-10 and 2018-19 academic years
· Must have graduated from Mid-America Christian University between 2010 and 2019
· Must have competed on one of the currently active MACU athletic programs (men's or women's soccer, volleyball, men's or women's basketball, baseball or softball) or competed on the men's golf team
The "Team of the Decade" will consist of the best student-athletes from each sport during that time frame. A "Player of the Decade" will also be included for each sport.

"We view this as a tremendous opportunity to honor a group of student-athletes that accomplished incredible feats in their respective sports, while simultaneously engaging our students, alumni, fans, faculty & staff in a different manner than we have in the past. I'm really proud of what we've accomplished in the past decade and excited for the opportunity to celebrate and honor the accomplishments of our student-athletes!"
The "Team of the Decade" tradition was started by the MACU men's basketball program following the 1960s and has continued the tradition for every decade since. The MACU women's basketball program adopted the tradition with its first "Team of the Decade" during the 2000s.
The Evangels will hold a four-week nomination period that will start on Friday, Jan. 17 and conclude on Friday, Feb. 14. The MACU Athletic Department will announce each program's "Team of the Decade" after a thorough evaluation of the nominees by the selection committee.
