OKLAHOMA CITY – In helping lead Mid-America Christian to its biggest win at Southwestern Assemblies of God since 2006 last Thursday, senior guard Lexi Hernandez was selected as the Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Monday.

A 5-6 guard from Canyon, Texas, Hernandez put together a historic performance in MACU's 97-76 victory against the Lady Lions. Hernandez finished the contest with 39 points on 13-of-22 shooting, which included going 5-for-10 from the three-point arc and 8-of-9 from the foul line while also ripping down a career-high nine rebounds to go with six assists.

The 39-point point performance was the fourth-most scored by an Evangels player since the team joined the NAIA and the Sooner Athletic Conference in 2007. It was the most points scored in a game since Kelli Tolar dropped an NAIA era record 43 points against Science & Arts on Jan. 26, 2016.

The 13 made field goals also set an NAIA era top five mark, tying Shaylan Coleman, Ashlee Ferguson and Alexis Shannon in the MACU record books.

Not only did the Evangels snap a three-game losing streak in Waxahachie, Texas, but the 21-point margin of victory was MACU's largest in the Lady Lions' venue since picking up a 62-39 win on Nov. 4, 2006.

Hernandez has vastly elevated her game through the first four games of the season as she is currently averaging 23 points per game on 53.3 percent shooting, 44.4 percent from three and 94.1 percent from the free throw line while also averaging 7.3 rebounds per game and dishing out 19 assists to go with a team-high 14 steals.

Mid-America Christian will be back in-action on Saturday, Nov. 21 as the Evangels will host Science & Arts in a non-conference matchup. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m. at the Gaulke Activity Center.
