OKLAHOMA CITY – The Sooner Athletic Conference Council of Presidents announced Thursday evening that the league will be immediately suspend competition and practice for all 11 of the league's members, including Mid-America Christian University.
A unanimous decision was made by the conference's Presidents to ensure the health, safety and well-being of the student-athletes during the Coronavirus (COVIR-19) pandemic. Conference officials and the NAIA will communicate frequently in the days ahead to determine when or if the suspensions can be lifted and competitions can resume.
Mid-America Christian softball was slated to face Oklahoma City in a doubleheader on Thursday at 5 p.m., but cancelled a couple hours prior to the start of competition.
The Evangels baseball team was scheduled to play at Texas Wesleyan in a three-game series with a doubleheader on Thursday before wrapping up the series on Friday. The Evangels completed the twin bill Thursday afternoon, but will not play the series finale scheduled tomorrow and will immediately return to Oklahoma City.
