Shannon Named To All-Oklahoma Sports Net First Team

OKLAHOMA CITY – After completing a stellar career for the Mid-America Christian women's basketball team, senior forward Alexis Shannon was named to the All-Oklahoma Sports Net First Team on Tuesday.

The Oklahoma Sports Net postseason honors are presented to small college basketball players in the state of Oklahoma that compete at either the NCAA Division II or NAIA level.

Shannon was a first team honoree after leading the Evangels scoring efforts with 641 points (20 points per game), the fifth-most points of any player in the NAIA while shooting 47.3 percent from the field and 35.2 percent from the three-point arc.

The Noblesville, Ind. native was also the squad's leading rebounder with 241 boards (7.5 rpg) while dishing out 66 assists and 39 steals.

Shannon closed out her career as the second all-time leading scorer at MACU with 1853 points while setting the highest scoring mark in the program during the NAIA era (2007-Present). Shannon also set the NAIA era career record marks for rebounds (757), field goals made (702) and free throws made (345) while recording the third-best field goal percentage (47.2 percent), the third-most steals (146) and the fifth-most assists (188).

The 5-11 forward's best game as an Evangel came in a 99-50 victory over Oklahoma Panhandle State at the Gaulke Activity Center on Feb. 6, as Shannon scored a career-high 33 points on 14-for-21 shooting while going 2-for-2 from the three-point arc and 3-for-4 from the foul line.

It's one more accolade in the stacked 2019-20 resume for Shannon after being named to the All-Sooner Athletic Conference First Team, the NCCAA Central Region Player of the Year and was also selected as an All-NCCAA First Team honoree for the third straight year.
