Big Bats Carry Evangels To Doubleheader Sweep At Central Christian

MCPHERSON, Kan. – The Mid-America Christian softball team not only scored double-digit runs for the first time all season, but did so in both games of a doubleheader as the Evangels came away with a 12-2, 11-1 sweep at Central Christian on Saturday evening.

  • Mid-America Christian scored its 12 runs on 11 hits with two errors while the Tigers notched their two runs on two hits and committed one error.
  • The 12 runs scored was the most since the Evangels plated 12 at Southwestern (Kan.) on Mar. 3, 2020.
  • Katie Long picked up her 13th win in the circle, getting the complete game win by allowing just two runs, one earned on two hits with one walk and eight strikeouts. With the eight punchouts, Long moved her season strikeout total to 132, sitting just three back of Caitlyn Ulmer's NAIA era record set during the 2010 season.
  • With four RBIs in the contest, Olivia Roberts recorded a career-high for a single game after going 3-for-4 on the day from the plate.
  • Cailey Parsells was one of two Evangels to record three hits after going 3-for-4 with three runs and a stolen base at the top of the order. With her stolen bag, Parsells tied Ribbin Dorado's single season record set in 2018 with 25 on the year.
  • Faith Hollingsworth hit her team-leading fourth home run, the team's ninth of the season on a solo shot to center in the second inning.
  • Mikaylee Allen reached base on all four of her plate appearances, going 2-for-2 with two walks, two stolen bases, two RBIs and three runs.

  • Mid-America Christian pushed across its 11 runs on seven hits and committed a pair of errors while Central Christian scored its only run on three hits and also made two miscues.
  • Regan Martin picked up her 11th win in the circle, tossing all five innings and allowing only one earned run on three hits with no walks and seven strikeouts.
  • Mikaylee Allen led the MACU bats with a season-high three RBIs, going 1-for-3 with a triple and a run scored. By picking up a pair of stolen bases, Allen notched her 20th stolen base of the season, joining Ribbin Dorado and teammate Cailey Parsells as the only three players to ever reach 20 stolen bases in a single season.
  • Olivia Roberts had another strong game at the plate, slashing 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI. The run driven in was Roberts' team-leading 29th of the campaign.
  • It was the first time the Evangels scored double-digit runs in back-to-back games of a doubleheader since beating Southwestern Christian 15-2 and 11-0 on Apr. 30, 2018.
