Evangels Cruise To Doubleheader Sweep Of Southwestern Christian

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Mid-America Christian softball team dominated with both its pitching and hitting in a doubleheader sweep over Southwestern Christian at Jack Allen Field on Wednesday afternoon. Katie Long tied a career-high 12 strikeouts in a complete game shutout during a 6-0 victory in game one before the Evangels scored a season-high in a 14-2 victory to close out the twin billing.

PITCHING DECISION TOP PERFORMERS SCORING SUMMARY GAME NOTES
  • Mid-America Christian finished with six runs on 11 hits while Southwestern Christian tallied just one hit with three errors.
  • Katie Long tossed her third complete game shutout of the season and allowed just one hit while tying her own second-most strikeouts in a single game record with 12 to go with no walks issued. By getting the win, Long moved to 15-5 on the season as she sits just one win away from tying Regan Martin (2019) and Amber Tinney's (2014) for the single season wins record.
  • Kylie Stubbs led the MACU bats by going a career-best 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Stubbs also stole a career-best four bases, tying Ribbin Dorado's NAIA era record set on Apr. 16, 2018 against Ecclesia (Ark.) for the most in a single game.
  • Long also helped herself with the bat, going 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs, Avery Schneringer swatted 2-for-3 with a pair of runs and an RBI while Olivia Roberts rounded out the multi-hit performances by going 2-for-3 with a run scored.

PITCHING DECISION TOP PERFORMERS SCORING SUMMARY GAME NOTES
  • Mid-America Christian scored its 14 runs on 17 hits and committed an error while the Eagles scored their two runs with two hits and made two miscues.
  • The 14 runs scored by the Evangels was the most they scored in a game since defeating Bacone (Okla.) 16-0 on Mar. 5, 2019. The 17 hits were also the most MACU had recorded since defeating Oklahoma Panhandle State 7-4 on Apr. 28, 2018.
  • Regan Martin picked up the win in the circle, giving up just one hit in four innings of work. With her 13th victory, she surpassed Kelcie Wolf for the fifth-most wins in a single season in the NAIA era and owns three of the top five spots in the MACU record book.
  • Cailey Parsells recorded her fourth three-hit game of the season, finishing just a homer away from the cycle by notching a single, double and triple to go with a career-best three RBIs and scored a pair of runs to go with her 29th stolen base of the season.
  • 11 different players recorded a hit for MACU while Adyson Bradley, Camenda Osborn, Rachel Humburg and Kylie Stubbs each finished with a pair of hits.
  • After not breaking double-digits in runs before Apr. 17, the Evangels have now scored 10 or more runs in four of the last six games.
