    • Set One
      • Mid-America Christian started out strong, scoring five of the first six points, wrapping up the run with blocks on back-to-back rallies. The first came from Hanna Foecker and Vanessa Moreira while Foecker teamed up with Allison Porter on the second.
      • Southwestern Christian clawed their way back, tallying scores on six of the next nine rallies to pull it to within two at 8-6.
      • A Moreira kill started a string of four unanswered during a 7-2 run to stretch the MACU lead to 15-8.
      • SCU could pull it to no closer than six the rest of the way as the Evangels closed out with a 5-2 surge, finishing it off on a Foecker kill for a 25-16 win.
    • Set Two
      • Southwestern Christian battled back and forth with MACU in the early going, as a Diana Pisano kill on the 17th rally gave SCU a 9-8 advantage.
      • MACU countered with a 9-4 to stretch its lead to 17-13 on a Porter and Maddie Callicoat block.
      • The Eagles and Evangels swapped three-point swings over the next nine rallies as SCU managed to pull it to within one at 21-20 on a Moreira attack error.
      • After trading back-to-back rallies, MACU finished well by forcing two SCU errors before ending it on a Kaylie Walker service ace, securing the 25-21 victory.
    • Set Three
      • After the Eagles notched three of the first five, a Faith DeSouza service error started a string of five unanswered for the Evangels, getting a pair of kills from Foecker to go along with a Moreira ace to bring the score to 7-3.
      • A 3-1 run by SCU near the midway point allowed the Eagles to pull it back to within two at 11-9 before MACU surged away, taking nine of the next 10 rallies to stretch the lead to 20-10. Moreira and Foecker were pivotal players during the run as Moreira tallied four points on two kills and two aces while Foecker chipped in three kills.

      • SCU survived two match points before Foecker blasted a right side attack down the right sideline to end the set at 25-14 and seal the three-set sweep.
  • MATCH NOTES
    • Both defenses were dominant in the match, but Mid-America Christian was simply stellar by limiting Southwestern Christian to just 25 kills on a .022 attack percentage while finishing the match with 36 kills on a .189 percentage.
    • The MACU backline was nearly unstoppable on serve receive, limiting an SCU program that came into the match averaging 2.21 aces per set to just two service aces for the entire match.
    • Hanna Foecker continued to add to her NAIA-leading kills total, notching the second-most kills in a three-set match in the NAIA era with 22 on a blistering .442 attack percentage. Foecker also holds the previous mark that was set earlier this season against Jarvis Christian at the Lyon Highlander Invitational on Sept. 4.
    • The Evangels were balanced in their backline by recording 64 digs with only Faith Foutch breaking double-digits with 11 digs on the night. Overall, eight different Evangels finished the night with five or more digs.
    • Since the start of the 2019 season, Mid-America Christian has had Southwestern Christian's number, winning its sixth straight against the Eagles. It is the second straight time MACU came away with a sweep after defeating SCU 25-19, 25-14, 25-19 back on Mar. 22.
    • MACU remained unblemished at home, improving to 4-0 at the Gaulke Activity Center this season.
UP NEXT
