Baseball Drops Series Opener at No. 5 Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY – In a battle of the two top teams in the Sooner Athletic Conference, the Mid-America Christian baseball team struggled to slow down the red hot bats of No. 5 Oklahoma City as the Evangels dropped the series opener by a score of (score) at Jim Wade Stadium on Thursday night.

TOP PERFORMERS GAME NOTES
  • Oklahoma City scored its 11 runs on eight hits while the Evangels scored its lone run on five hits and committed two errors.
  • Mid-America Christian opened the scoring in the top of the second when Andres Gonzalez smashed his second home run of the season over the right field fence to make it a 1-0 game.
  • MACU starter Zane Robeaux ran into trouble in the bottom of the second as the Stars smashed a pair of home runs, a three-run towering shot to left-center off the bat of Frederic Walter before Felix Chenier-Rondeau smashed a homer to right to make it a 5-1 game.
  • Oklahoma City put up another crooked inning in the bottom of the fifth, scoring six runs to extend the Stars edge to 11-1.
  • Mid-America Christian struggled to get the bats going against OCU ace Eli Davis, who allowed just one earned run on five hits with one walk and struck out eight batters.
  • MACU starter Zane Robeaux suffered his first loss of the season, allowing nine earned runs on five hits with four walks and four strikeouts over four innings of work.
  • Yan Ely Adames was the only Evangel bat to notch multiple hits, going 2-for-3 with a pair of singles.
  • Oklahoma City won their sixth straight in the series against the Evangels.
