Softball Sweeps Langston 11-1, 7-2 in Return to Allen Field

OKLAHOMA CITY – After spending the last eight games on the road, the Mid-America Christian softball team had a strong showing its return to Allen Field as the Evangels bats came alive in an 11-1, 7-2 doubleheader sweep over Langston on Tuesday afternoon.

  • Mid-America Christian scored its 11 runs on nine hits while Langston finished with one run on three hits and committed four errors.
  • Janessa Larman recorded a career-high and a season-high five runs-batted-in for the Evangels, finishing the game by going 2-for-2 with a 2-RBI double and a 3-RBI homer.
  • Mikaylee Allen continued to add to her team-lead in RBIs with her 21st and 22nd on a 2-RBI double in the bottom of the second.
  • Olivia Roberts also finished with a pair of hits, going 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored while Emylee Campbell was the lone Evangel to reach home plate twice after going 1-for-2 with a walk.

  • Mid-America Christian scored its seven runs on eight hits and committed three errors while Langston scored its two runs on six hits and also made three miscues.
  • Freshman designated player Emylee Campbell reached base four times after going 2-for-2 with a pair of singles and a pair of walks to go with two stolen bases, two RBIs and a run scored.
  • Megan Widener also drove in a pair of runs in a pinch-hitting appearance with a scorching line-drive double to the left-center field wall in the bottom of the fifth that made it a 7-1 game at the time.
  • Mikaylee Allen provided a challenge for the Lions as she went 1-for-3 with a walk and a pair of runs and two stolen bases while also driving in her team-high 23rd RBI of the season in the bottom of the first.
  • Cailey Parsells was also a difficult out as she slashed 1-for-2 with a pair of walks and a run scored as she also notched two more stolen bases, bringing her season total to 30 on the year.
  • Kassie Martin was the only other Evangel to record multiple hits, going 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored.
  • Avery Schneringer picked up her third straight win in the circle after throwing her fifth complete game, allowing only two earned runs on seven hits and two walks while tying a career-high six strikeouts.
  • By getting the doubleheader sweep, the Evangels have now won 15 of their last 17 against Langston and own a 17-8 record in the all-time series.

  • Mid-America Christian will be back at home on Thursday as the Evangels will host Southwestern Christian for a Sooner Athletic Conference doubleheader. The opening game is slated for a 2 p.m. first pitch at Allen Field.
