OKLAHOMA CITY – The Sooner Athletic Conference announced its 2021-22 Baseball Scholar-Athletes, presented by Barnes & Noble College on Thursday and after putting together the winningest season in program history, the Evangels also performed exceptionally in the classroom by placing leading 12 student-athletes on the 65-player list.
In order to earn SAC Scholar-Athlete accolades, a student-athlete must maintain no lower than a 3.5 cumulative grade-point average, be a junior or higher by academic standing, attended the nominating institution for at least two years as a non-transfer or one year as a transfer and appear on the program's NAIA eligibility certificate.
Not only did MACU finish with the second-most SAC Scholar-Athletes, but the program also boasted the most student-athletes with a 4.0 cumulative GPA as six of the 10 players in the league are enrolled at Mid-America Christian.
The Evangels also notched a pair of repeat winners as Joshua Fernandez and Andres Gonzalez are earning their third SAC Scholar-Athlete award.
