- MidAmerica Nazarene broke through first at the 16:17 mark when Laura Torres played a give-and-go down the left side off a takeaway before the Pioneers' top striker Sarah Assumma slipped a seven-yard shot from the left-side toward the right post past Makayla Farquharson trying to make a stab save with her left leg, bringing the score to 1-nil.
- The Evangels were unable to put a shot attempt together in the first half, but MACU was also able to limit MNU to one more off-target shot, keeping it to a 1-0 game at the half.
- While both teams were able to muster a little bit more offense in the second half, the Pioneers netted a crucial insurance goal in the 76th minute when Giovanna Castro slipped a pass through the right side of the box for Emily Carrasco in the middle, as she split a double team for a 14-yard blast into the right side of the net, setting the score to 2-nil.
