Women’s Basketball Closes Out First Half of SAC Play Against John Brown, Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY – The MACU women's basketball team will wrap-up the first half of Sooner Athletic Conference play this week as the Evangels will host John Brown inside the Gaulke Activity Center at 6 p.m. on Thursday night before heading to El Reno, Okla. on Saturday to take on Oklahoma City on the campus of Redlands Community College at 2 p.m.

MACU SEASON REPORT
  • Record: 12-3 (6-3 SAC)
  • Last Game: Won at SW Assemblies of God (Texas) – 100-65 – Jan. 7, 2023 – Waxahachie, Texas
  • Stat Leaders:
  • Team Notes:
    • After suffering a tough 82-74 loss at Texas Wesleyan on Jan. 2, Mid-America Christian bounced back in a big way later in the week as the Evangels pulled away in the third and fourth quarter for an 89-70 win over UNT-Dallas inside the Gaulke Activity Center on Jan. 5 before cruising to a 100-65 victory at Southwestern Assemblies of God on Jan. 7.
    • Putting together a stellar week offensively for MACU, junior guard Jaci Littell was named both the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) and National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Player of the Week. Over the three-game slate, Littell averaged 27.0 points per game on a 46 percent shooting clip, which included going 14-of-27 (51.9 percent) from three-point range as well as converting 21-of-24 (87.5 percent) from the charity stripe.
    • A big reason for MACU's success in the last two games was getting back to getting on the glass. After getting outrebounded 43-28 to the Lady Rams last Monday, the Evangels dominated both UNT-Dallas and SAGU with 52-34 and 43-28 rebounding margins in the two victories. The Evangels currently lead the SAC and are 17th in the NAIA in total rebounding at 44.5 rpg while boasting the third-best rebounding margin in the league at 6.5.
    • The Evangels also did a better job of taking care of the basketball in the last two games. After posting just two games with fewer than 15 turnovers through the first 11 competed contests of the season, MACU committed just 14 giveaways in each of the last two games.
