Adames, McGarry-Doyle Earn NCCAA All-America Accolades

GREENVILLE, S.C. – After putting together a historic 2023 season that culminated to a NCCAA World Series title, redshirt sophomore outfielder Noel McGarry-Doyle and graduate student catcher Yan Ely Adames earned NCCAA All-America Third Team honors.

With Adames and McGarry-Doyle collecting All-America accolades, it marked just the fourth time that the MACU baseball program had two players garner an NCCAA All-America nod and the second straight year after Frensly Leito and Andrew Enwiya collected honors in 2022.

Overall, McGarry-Doyle's inaugural campaign with the Evangels was a historic one, as the 6-2 right fielder scored the second-most runs (62) and drove in the fifth-most RBIs (50) on the third-highest OPS (1.241) since the program became dual affiliated with the NAIA in 2008.

McGarry-Doyle wrapped up the year by notching more NAIA Era top 10 marks with the seventh-best batting average (.389), the fourth-best slugging percentage (.722), the third-best on-base percentage (.519), the record for triples (5), the eighth-most home runs (11), fifth-most total bases (117), the sixth-most walks (29) the second-most hit-by-pitches (19) and the ninth-most stolen bases (14).

The Maple, Ontario, Canada native was one of the major offensive catalysts for the Evangels in the NCCAA World Series, as he wrapped up the five-game slate with a team-best .476 batting average (10-21) with two doubles, two triples and five RBIs to go with six runs.

Wrapping up his MACU career, Adames put together one of the best power hitting seasons in the history of MACU baseball program. In the NCCAA World Series, Adames earned NCCAA World Series Most Outstanding Player honors after matching McGarry-Doyle's .476 (10-for-21) average with two doubles, a triple and a pair of home runs, the last of which allowed him to tie Adrian Bravo-Carmona's NAIA Era single-season homers record with his 14th of the campaign. Adames finished the tourney with five RBIs to finished tied for the team-lead.

Adames finished his highly successful season a .330 batting average and notched the second-most RBIs with 43 RBIs to go with nine doubles and three triples along with 23 runs scored.

On the whole, Adames finished his MACU career as the program's NAIA Era record holder in hits (267), runs (120), doubles (53), home runs (36), RBIs (190), total bases (436) and at-bats (768).

The Evangels closed out the 2023 season with a 39-17 record, which included posting its first winning record in the powerhouse Sooner Athletic Conference (15-9) since joining the league in 2008. The Evangels also won the program's first NCCAA World Series title as well as the program's third overall NCCAA National Championship, joining the 1998 and 2004 NCCAA D-II National Invitational Championship teams.
