OKLAHOMA CITY – Despite facing a stiff test from Central Christian at the Dill Soccer Field on Saturday, senior forward
Alissa Taylor scored the game-winning goal in the 70
th minute while another senior in
Asley Baker added some insurance later in the contest as the Evangels ran away with the 3-0 win over the Tigers on their Senior Night on Saturday.

MATCH SUMMARY
- First Half
- Mid-America Christian (7-2-2, 2-1 SAC) established itself as the aggressor in the opening half, outshooting CCCK 15-3 and recording four shots on-goal compared to one for the low-scoring Tigers. However, the Evangels couldn't finish multiple scoring opportunities.
- MACU's first best chance came with 17 minutes remaining when Brae Baker couldn't convert a cross in-front of the CCCK goal with 17 minutes remaining, however MACU got another chance the ricochet found the foot of Francesca Martella.
- was launched from 22 yards by Francesca Martella in the direction of Tiger goalkeeper Celena Vanhaezebrouck, who made a tremendous diving save to force the shot over the crossbar.
- Second Half
- After being held scoreless through the first 69 minutes of the match, Alissa Taylor got the Evangels' on the board in the 70th minute. After receiving a cross from the right side of the midfield, the senior forward dribbled forward in the attack before cutting inside toward the middle of the pitch. Teeing off a 30-yard lofting shot, Taylor precisely put it into the top right corner of the keeper.
- Mid-America Christian got a golden opportunity to add to its lead with 19:27 to go when a handball by the Tigers defense in the box set the Evangels up for a penalty kick. However, Brae Baker's strike toward center after getting the keeper to lean right was kick saved by Vanhaezebrouck to keep it to a one-goal game.
- In the 73rd minute, MACU scored again, this time on a similar shot from distance as Taylor relayed a cross to Gladis Avalos in the midfield as she lofted a 28-yard pinpoint floater into the top left corner that cleared Vanhaezebrouck's reach while staying just under the crossbar to extend the lead to 2-0.
- Central Christian's most dangerous chance came in the 78th minute when Baylee Smith's right-side corner came into the middle of the box as Rachel Torres leaped up to snare it. However, the pressure from Racquel John's attempted header caused the ball to pop out of the keeper's hands and off the bottom of the crossbar before being safely cleared away.
- MACU secured its final goal in the 85th minute, was a collaboration between sisters Asley Baker and Brae Baker. After Asley sent a midfield through ball to Brae into the right side of the box, Brae relayed a pass back to her sister cutting into the middle of the box, putting strong 15-yard strike up high out of the reach of the keeper.
MATCH NOTES
- Mid-America Christian dominated the possession, out-shooting Central Christian (4-6, 0-3 SAC) 34-5 including 16 shots on goal to just two for the Tigers.
- For senior goalkeeper Rachel Torres, the shutout was the fourth for Torres this season and the ninth of her MACU career. Overall, Torres finished with two saves on a pair of shots that did not challenge the keeper much in the match.
- A four-year member of the Evangels, the goal for Alissa Taylor marked her first career game-winner in 64 games played while the assist on Gladis Avalos' goal allowed the senior to record her first career three-point game.
- Avalos, the SAC Newcomer of the Year last season, was finally able to snap her six-game scoreless streak with her precise strike into the top left corner, marking her second goal of the season and the ninth of her two-year Evangels career.
- The goal for Asley Baker went down as her second of the season and ironically, it was also the second time the two sisters connected on a scoring play as Brae Baker was credited with the assist on the goal for her fifth of the season, tying her with Francesca Martella for the team-lead while extending her team-leading point total to 19 on the season.
- By getting the victory, Mid-America Christian has now won nine-straight meetings against the Tigers since the 2019 season, which includes being the third consecutive shutout.
- Following the completion of the contest, MACU honored its 10 graduating seniors: Rachel Torres, Francesca Martella, Annika Gerdau, Asley Baker, Maria Alonso, Mia Willyerd, Alissa Taylor, Stephany Soto, Dani Duke and Silvia Cinque.
