  • Team Notes:
    • Mid-America Christian is coming off a strong showing in a rain-shortened Cajun Collision at the Sterlington Sports Complex in Sterlington, Louisiana this past weekend. Scheduled for a four-game slate, MACU's Saturday games were canceled due to the rainout, however, the Evangels were able to pick up a pair of massive wins on Friday, defeating Georgetown 2-1 in a pitcher's duel before getting their second NAIA Top 25 win of the season by a 6-3 score over No. 10 Missouri Baptist.
    • In the win over the Tigers, MACU starter Devan Quesada managed to work his way out of multiple jams through the first four innings as the Evangels trailed by just one run before Anthony Hampton injected some life into the MACU bats with a solo homer in the top of the sixth. In the top of the seventh, the Evangels found their winning run when Noel McGarry-Doyle legged out a leadoff infield single before Kyle Williams put a pair in scoring position with a double in the next at-bat. Joel Crawford knocked in the winning run on a chopper to third where McGarry-Doyle slid in to beat the throw home to make it a 2-1 game.
    • After relieving Quesada in the fifth, Carlos Escobosa earned his first career win at MACU after throwing three scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out eight of the nine batters he retired.
    • In the victory of the Spartans, MACU's power bats woke up in a big way as four of the Evangels' six hits went for extra bases, building a 6-1 lead behind a D'Andre Gaines two-RBI double, a Caden Harris 2-RBI homer and a Noah Prince solo shot. MBU managed to get a pair of runs back in the sixth on a pair of solo shots to cut the deficit in-half, but Breyllin Suriel came in to notch his first career MACU save after tossing 1.2 innings of perfect scoreless relief.

  • Team Notes:
    • Randall is off to a tough start to the 2024 season as the Saints have been outscored 53-19 through their first three games and are coming off a 14-9 loss at East Central on Thursday.
    • Despite RU's pitching struggles, Randall has performed well from the plate, averaging 6.3 runs per game on a .272 team batting average. However, the Saints as a team are giving up on-average 17.7 runs per game with a 20.25 ERA on a .410 opponent batting average.
    • The Saints have been getting some strong production from the four-man tandem of Keaden Kempert, Lance Nunley, Ale Villegas and Reagan McNance, who have combined to hit for a .429 average with four doubles, a triple, a homer, 11 RBIs and 10 runs scored. However, the rest of the lineup has only been hitting for a .175 average with six RBIs and nine runs.
    • On the pitching side, no pitcher who has thrown more than one inning is allowing better than a 6.00 ERA with Keaden Kempert being the Saints most effective pitcher, allowing a 6.00 ERA over six innings of work.
    • Mid-America Christian is currently on a 10-game win streak against Randall as the Evangels last wins technically came on a pair of forfeits on Apr. 26, 2022. The last time the two squads competed against each other, MACU dominated a doubleheader series at Randall, picking up a pair of 18-9 and 12-4 victories.
