  • Team Notes:
    • Southwestern is coming off a tough showing in its season-opener at Central Baptist (Ark.) last weekend as the Moundbuilders were swept in a close four-game series: 5-3, 7-5, 3-2 and 8-4.
    • So far in the early season, SC is struggling to get the bats going, averaging just 3.2 runs per game on a .202 team batting average, but were able to get a little bit of pop in its bats in that series with the Mustangs, hammering three homers in the four-game series.
    • The pitching staff has also gotten off to a shaky start for the Moundbuilders, turning in a 6.75 team ERA while allowing Central Baptist to hit .309 as a team in that series. Southwestern's pitching staff also struggled to strike out their opposition, notching just 24 for six strikeouts per contest.
    • Despite SC's offensive struggles, the Evangels will need to be careful pitching to junior outfielder Carlos Camacho. Of his four hits this season, Camacho has hammered two doubles and a homer for five RBIs and an .818 slugging percentage.
    • Mid-America Christian and Southwestern will be going against each other for the seventh, eighth and ninth times in the last three seasons. The two teams squared off in a four-game series at the MACU Baseball Field in late February last year. In that four-game slate, the Evangels took the series by winning the first three 8-5, 4-1 and 4-3 before Southwestern took the final game in the slate by a score of 7-3.
