Baseball Ready to Roll at Fourth Annual Cajun Collison

OKLAHOMA CITY – The MACU baseball team will be traveling to Sterlington, Louisiana to compete in the Fourth Annual Cajun Collision, Presented by NAIA Ball at the Sterlington Sports Complex on Friday and Saturday. The Evangels will be playing a four games, starting with a 9:30 a.m. contest against Georgetown (Ky.) before taking on No. 10 Missouri Baptist at 12:30 p.m.

On Saturday, MACU is scheduled to play Texas A&M-Texarkana at 2:30 p.m. before closing it out against Louisiana Christian at 6 p.m. However, the status of the games is likely change due to inclement weather.

Team Notes:
- Mid-America Christian had a tough showing at Houston-Victoria last weekend as the Evangels dropped a hard-fought four-game series 3-1. After winning the series-opener 5-1, the Evangels fell in three very close contests, 4-2, 2-1 and 6-5.
- By throwing five shutout innings in MACU's 5-1 win over UHV as well as two scoreless innings the previous Sunday against No. 5 LSU Shreveport, senior Zane Robeaux was selected as the first Sooner Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for the 2024 season. Overall, Robeaux tossed seven innings, allowing only three hits and two walks while striking out six in the two games combined.
- Through the first six games, the MACU bats have been getting strong production from the four-man tandem of junior outfielders Noel McGarry-Doyle and Kyle Williams as well as the left side of the infield in shortstop Carlos Medina and third baseman Anthony Hampton. The team's leading hitter last season, McGarry-Doyle continues to pace the MACU bats by slashing a highly-efficient .450 with four of his nine hits being the extra-base variety with three doubles and a triple for a 1.222 OPS.
- Mid-America Christian will be competing in the Cajun Collison for the second time as the Evangels also competed in the event last season. Last year, MACU split its four games, picking up a 9-5 win over No. 12 MidAmerica Nazarene and a 7-5 victory over Louisiana Christian before falling 6-0 to Tabor and 8-2 to McPherson.
