PITCHING DECISIONS TOP PERFORMERS SCORING SUMMARY GAME NOTES
  • Mid-America Christian scored its 14 runs on 12 hits with one error while Central Christian scored its three runs on six hits with an error.
  • The Tigers took their only lead of the series in the top of the first when an error and a pair of walks loaded the bases before Landen Volner slapped a single through the right side to take a 1-0 lead.
  • The Evangels did not trail for long as MACU pushed across four runs in the bottom of the first when D'Andre Gaines and Taiga Sakuma executed a perfect double steal of second and home before Kyle Williams launched a no-doubt three-run jack over the right-center field wall to set the score to 4-1.
  • MACU added three more to its lead with a run in the second on a Noel McGarry-Doyle RBI double to the right-center field gap before Williams notched his fifth RBI of the game on a two-RBI double that one hopped to the center field wall, extending the advantage to 7-1.
  • The Tigers got a run back in the top of the fifth on a Timothy Escamilla RBI double to the left field wall, but the Evangels immediately added two more back in the bottom of the fifth with McGarry-Doyle drawing a bases-loaded walk before pinch-runner Tylor Richey came home to score on a wild pitch to bring it to 9-2.
  • The Evangels wrapped up their scoring with a strong five-run sixth inning as MACU executed another double steal of second and home with Julian Martinez and Joel Nieves before getting a pair of two-run homers from Taiga Sakuma and Noel McGarry-Doyle stretch it to a 14-2 game.
  • CCCK's Joseph Gusman bashed a lead-off solo homer over the left field wall, but reliever Luke Bourland making his first career appearance was able to end the frame with a 6-4-3 double play and a flyout to right to wrap-up the 14-3 final.
  • Even though he didn't have his sharpest start, MACU starter Carlos Escobosa was able to navigate out of multiple jams to get his third win of the season, allowing just two runs, one earned on three hits and five walks over 4.1 innings of work.
  • The top of MACU's batting order was downright lethal as the tandem of Taiga Sakuma, D'Andre Gaines, Noel McGarry-Doyle and Kyle Williams batted a combined 8-for-13 with three doubles, three home runs and drew six walks for eight RBIs and scored 10 runs.
  • Williams was especially strong batting out of the clean-up spot, slashing 2-for-3 with a double and a homer for a career-best five RBIs and scored a run to go with a pair of walks.
  • D'Andre Gaines scored a career-high four runs while reaching base safely on 2-for-2 batting with a double and a pair of runs to go with a stolen bag.
  • By hitting his 16th career home run, Noel McGarry-Doyle moved into a tie for sixth on MACU's NAIA Era (2008-present) record book, drawing even with Jon Jon Lemos (2011-12) and Diego Pichardo (2018-19).
GAME TWO
SCORE
  • Mid-America Christian 10, Central Christian 2
    • Mid-America Christian (15-8, 6-2 SAC)
    • Central Christian (7-19, 1-7 SAC)
PITCHING DECISIONS TOP PERFORMERS SCORING SUMMARY GAME NOTES
  • The Evangels scored their 10 runs on eight hits and committed a pair of errors while the Tigers notched two runs on three hits with an error.
  • MACU pushed across a run in each of the first three innings as a Noel McGarry-Doyle RBI single and a Jacob Police solo dinger to left sandwiched Taiga Sakuma scoring on a balk to take a 3-0 lead.
  • The Tigers pushed across their first run in the top of the fourth when Timothy Escamilla scored on a wild pitch before the Evangels countered with a huge six-run fifth as Police, Carlos Medina, Taiga Sakuma and D'Andre Gaines all notched RBIs before Tylor Richey scored on a wild pitch to set the score 8-1.
  • Caden Harris gave MACU some insurance in the bottom of the sixth when he hammered a two-RBI double to the right-center field gap to extend the edge to 10-1.
  • Central Christian mustered a minor threat against MACU reliever Jordan Smith in its last chance in the top of the seventh with back-to-back singles to start the frame, but Smith held the Tigers to just one run after inducing a ground out, a sacrifice flyout and a strikeout to wrap-up the 10-2 final.
  • While MACU's top of the order was somewhat less effective in the second game of the twin bill, the Evangels got some great production from its bottom of the order as Jacob Police out of the seven-hole led the bats by going 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored while Caden Harris in the eight-spot slashed 1-for-4 with a pair of RBIs.
  • Overall, the pitching tandem of Devan Quesada and Jordan Smith pitched very well in the victory. Quesada notched his second win of the season after allowing just one earned run on one hit with a walk and seven strikeouts while Jordan Smith got the three-inning save, allowing just one earned run on two hits with no walks and struck out two.
  • The win allowed the Evangels to notch their seventh-straight regular season series victory over Central Christian while tallying their third consecutive Sooner Athletic Conference series win to start the year.
GAME THREE

PITCHING DECISIONS TOP PERFORMERS SCORING SUMMARY GAME NOTES
  • The Evangels scored their 16 runs on 16 hits with one error while Central Christian scored its four runs on eight hits and committed a pair of errors.
  • Mid-America Christian blew the game wide open right out of the gate with a five-run first as an errant throw on Noel McGarry-Doyle's infield single to short allowed two runs to score before Jacob Police hammered a three-run homer to right-center later in the frame to make it a 5-0 game.
  • While MACU scored just one run in the second on an Anthony Hampton RBI single, the Evangels put up another crooked number in the third by pushing across seven runs.
  • In that massive third inning, both McGarry-Doyle and Caden Harris recorded two-RBI singles while also getting RBI base knocks from Zachary Stark and Carlos Medina to go along with an Anthony Hampton RBI sac fly, extending the edge to 13-0.
  • The Tigers finally pushed across their first run against MACU's ace Isaac Baez with an RBI single form Allen Gutierrez, but the Evangels got it back plus a spare in the bottom of the fifth on Noah Prince's two-RBI single through the left side to extend the lead to 15-1.
  • The Tigers and Evangels traded a run apiece in the sixth inning with James Perales slashing a single up the middle before Police wrapped up his incredible weekend with an RBI double ripped down the left field line to set the score to 16-2.
  • CCCK did push across a pair of runs in the seventh on a Carlos Gusman two-RBI double to the right-center field gap, but that would be all the Tigers could make up as the Evangels won via a run-rule, 16-4.
  • Jacob Police led the MACU bats in the series finale, finishing just a triple away from the cycle as he slashed 3-for-3 with a double and a homer for four RBIs to go with two runs while also drawing a walk.
  • Noel McGarry-Doyle also finished the day with three hits, slashing 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs and a pair of runs, raising his team-leading batting average to .436, which ranks second in the SAC.
  • Kyle Williams also wrapped up an excellent week at the dish with a 2-for-2 performance with a double and a walk while scoring a team-high three runs.
  • Overall, 11 different Evangels players recorded hits and 10 players scored runs for MACU in the victory.
  • Isaac Baez continued to hold his position near the top of NAIA with his second-best sixth win of the season after allowing only one earned run on three hits with a walk and three strikeouts over five innings of work.
  • By completing the sweep, the Evangels have now won seven-straight games against the Tigers and have been victorious in 16 of the last 18 meetings. In-total, the Evangels outscored CCCK in this year's three-game series, 40-9. Those nine runs are the fewest the Tigers have scored in either of their three SAC series this year.
