  • Team Notes:
    • Mid-America Christian put together an incredible performance in all facets of the game over the weekend in its three-game series against No. 17 MidAmerica Nazarene as the Evangels swept the Pioneers in their Senior Weekend, 8-1, 5-2 and 7-4.
    • Facing a team that entered the weekend ranking in the top 10 in batting average, slugging percentage and on-base percentage, the Evangels held MNU completely in-check as MACU's pitching staff as a whole finished with a 1.96 ERA while limiting the Pioneers to just seven runs on 19 hits for a .229 team batting average. The Evangels' defense was also phenomenal as MACU committed just one error for a .989 fielding percentage and turned three double plays in the slate.
    • As a result of their sensational weeks, sophomore second baseman Jacob Police was named the SAC Player of the Week while senior pitcher Isaac Baez garnered the NCCAA Pitcher Student-Athlete of the Week award. Overall, Police finished the three-game slate with a .556 batting average, slashing 5-for-9 with a triple and a home run for five RBIs and four runs scored. Meanwhile, Baez tossed a gem to start the series, allowing just one earned run on six hits with no walks and two strikeouts over seven innings of work for a complete-game victory.
    • The Evangels continue their climb up the NAIA ranks in the pitching department as MACU now ranks in the top five for both earned run average and WHIP (walks + hits per innings pitched). The Evangels hold the fifth-lowest ERA in the NAIA at 3.75 while their WHIP rating is at 1.24, the third-lowest in the nation. The rise also coincides with MACU's offensive rise as the Evangels rank 15th in the NAIA in team batting average (.337) to go with the 24th-best slugging percentage (.533) and the 25th-best on-base percentage (.432).

  • Team Notes:
    • McPherson is coming off a series defeat at No. 21 Oklahoma Wesleyan this past weekend. After dropping the series-opener 14-3 on Friday, the Bulldogs and Eagles split the Saturday doubleheader with McPherson winning game one 16-6 before falling in the finale, 12-3.
    • Overall, the Bulldogs rank in the middle of the pack in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference from a hitting standpoint, posting the seventh-best batting average (.299) in the 13-team conference with the eighth-best on-base percentage (.408) and the fifth-best slugging percentage (.490).
    • The biggest area of weakness for McPherson during the 2024 campaign has come in the pitching department as the Bulldogs rank third-to-last in the KCAC in team ERA (9.06) to go with the 10th-best WHIP (2.00), but do rank fourth in strikeouts per nine innings (8.86).
    • Leading the McPherson bats this season has been senior third baseman Andres Artola, who is the only every day player on the squad with an above .350 batting average at .359 with 10 doubles and four homers for 30 RBIs and 24 runs while senior outfielder Kevinn Castillo is the team's best power hitter with 10 homers with eight doubles for 29 RBIs and 28 runs off a .323 batting average.
    • Senior righty Hayden Casey has been the team's most effective starting pitcher in 2024, posting a 4-3 record and a 6.65 ERA while Ethan Alexander owns a 6-1 record at a 6.90 ERA in 19 appearances and seven starts.
    • Mid-America Christian and McPherson have been relatively even since the two teams started facing each other in 2014 as the Bulldogs own a slim 5-4 lead in the all-time series. However, the last time the two teams faced each other at the MACU Baseball Field on Feb. 2, 2019, the Evangels came away with 6-5 victory on Junior Aracena's walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the seventh.
