PITCHING DECISIONS TOP PERFORMERS SCORING SUMMARY GAME SUMMARY
  • Both teams struggled to find baserunners through the first four innings as the only runner that reached third for either team was Stormy Haynes in the top of the third when she drew a leadoff walk, stole second and was moved down to third on a sac bunt. However, the Evangels were unable to capitalize as Kisbel Vizcaya grounded out to second to end the inning.
  • In the top of the fifth, Mid-America Christian was finally able to break through. After Makenzie Thurman hit a double to left that bounced over the left fielder before Stormy Haynes ripped a liner down the left field line and came around to score on an inside-the-park home run to set the score to 2-0.
  • In the sixth, MACU added an insurance run as Vizcaya dropped a single into left before stealing second and advancing to third on a throwing error by the catcher. Morgan Fowble then knocked a single into left to plate Vizcaya to bring the score to 3-0.
  • The Evangels doubled up their lead in the top of the seventh when Makenzie Thurman slapped a single down the left field line to start the frame before stealing second and then scoring on Hallie Wilson's deep double to center. Brooklyn Wilson followed it up with a two-run homer over the left field wall to set the score to 6-0.
  • After coming in relief in the sixth, Avery Schneringer closed the door with a pair of strikeouts and a flyout to center to wrap-up the 6-0 final.
GAME NOTES
  • Mid-America Christian scored its six runs on seven hits with an error while Central Christian recorded just one hit and committed a pair of errors.
  • Rachel Eggleston put together one of her best starts of the season from the circle as the senior starter allowed just one hit and walked three while striking out a season-high nine batters over five innings of work. Overall, Eggleston has struck out 17 over her last 10 innings pitched.
  • By getting the victory, Eggleston moved alone at the top of MACU's career pitching list with her 49th victory in the circle.
  • Avery Schneringer recorded her second save of the season after tossing the final two innings, allowing no hits or walks while striking out three. The save also allowed her to move into MACU's all-time top five in career saves with three over her four-year Evangels career.
  • The Evangels continued to swing the power bats as four of MACU's seven hits were of the extra-base variety with two doubles and a pair of homers. Brooklyn Wilson then smashed a hard-high ground ball 2-RBI single up the middle to make it a 2-0 game.
