GAME NOTES
  • Mid-America Christian scored its nine runs on 15 hits and committed a pair of errors while Southwestern Christian tallied its seven runs on 12 hits with four errors.
  • The first three innings of the contest were a back-and-forth contest that saw three lead changes. The Eagles notched the first run of the contest in the top of the first on a wild pitch before the Evangels captured their first advantage in the bottom of the second at 2-1 on Emylee Campbell's RBI single up the middle before scoring on an errant throw by the shortstop trying to get Stormy Haynes out at first on an infield single.
  • After a Lexi Cahwee two-run homer just barely crawled over the right-center field wall to give SCU the 3-2 lead back in the top of the third, the Evangels got both runs back in the bottom of the frame on Brooklyn Wilson's sac fly to right, plating Kisbel Vizcaya before Aubrey Meyers slapped an RBI single down the left field line to make it a 4-3 game.
  • The Evangels gained some breathing room in the fourth as a Morgan Fowble sacrifice fly to center and a Hallie Wilson RBI single to right-center doubled up the MACU lead at 6-3.
  • While a Madison Jones RBI single to right cut into MACU's advantage in the top of the fifth, the Evangels immediately got it back in their half as Stormy Haynes put down a perfectly executed safety squeeze bunt single down the third base line to bring in Karlee Danielson to set the score to 7-4.
  • MACU gained its largest lead of the game in the bottom of the sixth in what proved to be pivotal insurance runs as Vizcaya stole third and scored when the muffed catch by the third baseman was knocked toward the SCU dugout, also allowing Hallie Wilson who stole second to get down to third. In the next at-bat, Brooklyn Wilson floated a shallow flyball down the right side in foul territory and after Jones made a great diving catch to get the out, the foul out allowed Hallie Wilson to tag up and score on the sac fly to stretch the edge to 9-4.
  • Southwestern Christian put together one last run at MACU in the top of the seventh, pushing across three runs and even got the tying run to second with two outs, but MACU starting pitcher Avery Schneringer finished the contest out by getting Madilyn Hagood to groundout to short to wrap-up the 9-7 final.
  • The Evangels as a team put together one of their best hitting games of the season as their 15 hits was the second-most in a game this season and the most against a Sooner Athletic Conference foe this season.
  • Overall five Evangels notched multi-hit games with a pair of players tallying three hits as Vizcaya finished 3-for-4 with three runs scored and a stolen base while Hallie Wilson also got back on-track by slashing 3-for-4 with an RBI and a pair of runs to go with a pair of stolen bases.
  • Brooklyn Wilson was the only MACU player with multiple RBIs after finishing 1-for-2 with a double and a pair of sac flies. Wilson joined elite company with her leadoff two-bagger in the bottom of the second as she became just the fifth player in program history to record 30 career doubles.
  • By getting the victory, MACU won its fourth Sooner Athletic Conference series of the season.

GAME NOTES
  • The Evangels scored their eight runs on nine hits with one error while the Eagles scored seven runs on 12 hits and committed three errors.
  • After giving up the first two runs of the game an infield fly rule that allowed an Eagles runner to score from third when the defender tripped and fell as well as a deep home run to right-center by Kelsie McCollom in the top of the second, the Evangels gained their first lead in the bottom half of the second.
  • Taking advantage of an errant throw into the dirt on Aubrey Meyers' leadoff at-bat, Karlee Danielson continued to stay hot from the plate by hammering the game-tying two-run homer over the left-center field fence. Following Madison Mora getting hit by a pitch and a Talyn Wheeler two-out single to left, Kisbel Vizcaya put the Evangels in-front by dropping a single into right-center field to set the score to 3-2.
  • MACU added an insurance run in the bottom of the third by perfectly executing a double steal with Emylee Cambell nabbing second before Danielson robbed home, but Southwestern Christian tied the game up in the top of the fourth by hitting three-straight singles with two outs as RBI knocks from Hannah Keele and Madison Jones made it a 4-4 game.
  • In the fifth, MACU put together its most offensively potent inning of the contest, starting the scoring off with a bang when Brooklyn Wilson hammered a deep, sharp line drive that got over the right-center field wall for a solo home run before adding two more runs later in the inning on a Campbell RBI groundout and a Mora RBI double down the left field line to make it 7-4.
  • However, SCU tied the game right back up in the top of the sixth with a three-run frame of its own as a leadoff Holly Elam single and a Danielle Burleson double put two runners in scoring position before Jessie Moralez hit a sharp liner right down the third base line for a two-RBI triple before scoring on Jones' RBI groundout to short.
  • Southwestern Christian tried to muster a seventh inning threat when McCollom smashed a two-out double to left-center, but MACU relief pitcher Chana Wolfe was able to induce a groundout to third to end the threat.
  • In the bottom of the seventh, the Evangels were able to take advantage of a few massive Eagles mistakes as a fielding error by SCU's shortstop allowed Morgan Fowble to reach before she got down to second on a wild pitch and then to third on Danielson's groundout to short. With two outs, Campbell once again delivered the clutch hit for MACU by dropping a bloop single into right field to give the Evangels the 8-7 victory.
  • Danielson continued to be an incredible power bat in the Evangels lineup as she notched her third home run in the last eight games and scored a career-high three runs after finishing 1-for-2 with two RBIs and a pair of walks to go with a stolen base.
  • Vizcaya and Campbell were the only MACU players to notch multi-hit games as Vizcaya slashed 2-for-4 with an RBI while Campbell swatted 2-for-4 with two RBIs to go with a stolen bag.
  • The homer for Brooklyn Wilson marked the third of her MACU career with her last also coming at home against the Eagles on Apr. 7, 2023 when she bashed the game-tying two-run homer in the bottom of the second.
  • Wolfe notched her eighth win of the season in the circle after allowing two earned runs on three hits with no walks and two strikeouts over two innings of relief.
  • By getting the victory, the Evangels swept Southwestern Christian in a four-game series for the first time since 2019.
  • MACU gained some separation in the No. 3 spot in the Sooner Athletic Conference standings with the sweep as the Evangels own a four-game lead over Texas Wesleyan, Wayland Baptist and Oklahoma Panhandle State (12-12)
