  • Team Notes:
    • After getting off to a rough start offensively in its final game of 2024 at Oklahoma City back on Dec. 14, trailing 28-22 with 5:34 left in the third quarter, Mid-America Christian found its stride over the final 15 minutes. The Evangels outscored the Stars down the stretch 31-17 to come away with the 53-45 victory.
    • MACU was able to overcome its worst shooting output of the season by putting together an all-around tremendous defensive performance. Even though the Evangels shot just 22.7 percent (15-for-66), including going 27.8 percent (5-of-18) from three, the Evangels defense was able to force OCU into committing a season-high 26 turnovers while also holding the Stars to its second-lowest shooting clip of the season at 30.6 percent (15-for-49).
    • The win for the Evangels showed that MACU can win despite it not being at the top of its offensive game. Mid-America Christian entered the contest against the Stars as the second-highest rated scoring offense in the Sooner Athletic Conference at 79.3 ppg while being ranked in the middle of the pack in the league in scoring defense at 63.6 ppg.
    • The Evangels enter the 2025 portion of the season in a three-way race with No. 12 Wayland Baptist and (RV) Langston at the top of the SAC standings as the Evangels sit just a half-game back of both teams at the top of the conference table.

    • Even though the Drovers pose one of the most efficient offenses in the conference under first year head coach Jaye Nayreau, boasting the league's third-best field goal percentage (41.8) and fourth-best free throw percentage (74.7), USAO ranks just eighth in the SAC in scoring offense (61.9). However, USAO has been one of the best defensive teams in the league, holding opponents to the second-lowest scoring output (56.5 ppg) with the second-lowest opponent shooting percentage (34.3).
    • USAO features a very balanced offense as eight different players are averaging at least 5.0 ppg with just junior guard Evangelina Davlakou averaging in double-figures at 13.9 ppg while shooting 39.1 percent from the field and 30.9 percent from three as well as a blistering 91.7 percent from the charity stripe.
    • Mid-America Christian is currently on a four-game win streak against one of its biggest rivals, which included sweeping all three of its meetings last season. Facing off against Science & Arts inside the Gaulke Activity Center in the SAC Quarterfinal on Feb. 29, the Evangels went on late push to come away with a 72-66 victory. In the win, Shy Christopher scored a career-high 35 points, including getting the go-ahead and-one bucket with 38 seconds left before putting the game away from the free throw line by going 4-for-5 down the stretch.
