OKLAHOMA CITY – The No. 18 MACU Women's Basketball team will look to close out the week on a strong note as the Evangels are preparing to take on crosstown foe Oklahoma City on Saturday with the contest slated for a 2 p.m. tip-off.

SEASON REPORT
  • Record: 17-3 (13-3 SAC)
  • Last Game: Won vs. Southwestern Christian (Okla.) – 84-65 – Jan. 23, 2025 – Gaulke Activity Center
  • Stat Leaders:
  • Team Notes:
    • Mid-America Christian was able to bounce back behind a huge first half in its away game turned home game against Southwestern Christian on Thursday night. After the scheduled road game at SCU was moved to MACU due to water damage in Pickens-Springer Gym, the Evangels jumped out to a massive 46-26 lead at the half before coming away with the 84-65 win.
    • It was a night to remember for senior guard Kylee Scheer, who wrapped up her evening with a career-high 32 points on 12-of-19 shooting, going 5-for-9 from three-point range and 3-of-3 from the foul line while narrowly missing a double-double with nine boards and five assists. It was the second 30-point game of Scheer's career after tallying 30 points in an 89-48 victory over Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) on Nov. 20, 2023.
    • The contest marked just the third time all season that the Evangels reached double-digits in made three-pointers as MACU tied a season-most 12-for-30 (40 percent) from behind the arc. The only other games the Evangels reached double-figure long balls came on a 12-for-29 (41.4 percent) night in an 83-81 defeat to No. 12 Wayland Baptist on Jan. 11 and a 11-for-35 (31.4 percent) performance in a 68-58 win at Nelson on Nov. 16.
    • After getting out-rebounded for just the third time all season in Monday's loss to Langston, the Evangels returned to form against SCU as the Evangels won the rebounding battle 42-30 while garnering an 11-4 edge on the offensive glass that resulted in a 13-0 difference in second chance points.
SCOUTING REPORT
Oklahoma City

  • Last Game vs MACU: MACU won 53-45 – Dec. 14, 2024 – Oklahoma City (Abe Lemons Arena)

  • Team Notes:
    • After putting together a three-game win streak last week, Oklahoma City opened this week with a tough road loss at John Brown on Monday as the Stars fell 56-44 to the Golden Eagles inside Bill George Arena.
    • The biggest challenge for the Stars in Sooner Athletic Conference play has come on the offensive end as OCU ranks 11th in the league in scoring average (59.7 ppg). However, where the Stars have excelled has come on the defensive end as Oklahoma City is allowing the third-fewest points per game (57.9) while boasting the SAC's best defensive field goal percentage (33.6) and third-best three-point defense (26.5).
    • The Evangels will need to key on graduate student guard Amaya Gordon, who is one of the best all-around players in the SAC, averaging 16.5 ppg and 7.0 rpg while also being a stout presence on the defensive end at 2.0 steals and 1.4 blocks per game. However, the Stars have been hurting in the low post with sophomore forward Jerney Bennett being out during the 2025 portion of the season.
    • Mid-America Christian will be gunning for the series sweep, but the last time the Evangels and Stars squared off, MACU had to overcome one of its worst shooting performances of the season. After trailing 19-15 at the halftime break in their previous matchup inside Abe Lemons Arena on Dec. 14, the Evangels were finally able to get into an offensive rhythm in the second half, outscoring OCU 38-26 in the second half to pull out the 53-45 road win.
