POINT LOOKOUT, MO. – MACU Women's Basketball fended off a 17-point halftime deficit to take the lead early in the fourth, but the Evangels went cold down the stretch and suffer their first Sooner Athletic Conference loss of the season, 83-75, on the road against College of the Ozarks on Saturday afternoon.

GAME SUMMARY
- First Quarter
- MACU jumped to an early 4-0 lead as Sincere Roberts and Caitlynn Jordan both scored buckets in the paint. But College of the Ozarks bounced back with a 13-0 run as the Bobcats held the Evangels scoreless over this five-minute period.
- Aniya Smith provided a spark off the bench with a big and-one in the latter stages of the opening quarter. Jordan found a pair of paint buckets in the final two possessions for MACU, but still trailed 19-14 after the first quarter.
- Second Quarter
- The floodgates opened from behind the arc for the Bobcats as three-pointers were raining in. Mia Smith cashed in the Evangels' first triple three minutes into the quarter, but it wasn't enough to stop the Bobcats' extended run as their lead grew to 21, at 47-26, with two minutes left.
- MACU cut into the deficit on its final two offensive possessions through Taliah Lee scoring points in the paint and a big triple from Talayah Thomas as the shot clock expired to cut the lead to 17 points going into the halftime break, as COFO lead 48-31 after outscoring MACU 29-17 in the second quarter.
- Third Quarter
- The Evangels had the perfect third quarter start sparked by a 7-0 run from Taliah Lee who finished two at the rim and splashed a corner three to cut the deficit to 12 just a minute and a half into the quarter to force a timeout from COFO.
- Lee showed nice touch off the glass and Thomas canned a triple from the top of the key as the Evangels saw a single-digit deficit again.
- The Bobcats fended off the Evangels' momentum with good shooting once again. However, a monster three-point play from Jordan brought MACU down just six after the third at 61-55, with one quarter remaining.
- Fourth Quarter
- MACU exploded out of the fourth quarter as the Evangels went on an 8-0 run off triples from Aniya Smith and Jordan. Mia Smith converted on a brilliant inbound play to give the Evangels a 63-31 lead just two minutes into the quarter, their first lead since 4-0.
- However, College of the Ozarks punched back with seven consecutive points to snatch the lead and momentum right back. Turnovers started to rack up on the offensive side for MACU, leading to easy buckets on the other end as the lead stretched to nine at 77-68, with three minutes left.
- The lead grew insurmountable for the Evangels as the Bobcats closed it out with clutch free throw shooting to hand MACU its first Sooner Athletic Conference loss of the season by a final score of 83-75.
GAME NOTES
- MACU finished 26-66 (39.4%) from the field, below average from behind the arc at 27.6% (8-29), and converted 15-of-17 (88.2%) free throws. The Bobcats shot an impressive 56% (28-50) from the field, 7-17 (41.2%) from three pointers, and 20-31 (64.5%) from the line.
- Caitlynn Jordan led the Evangels' offense with 19 points off 7-19 from the field, connecting on two triples, and a perfect 3-3 from the free throw line. Four other MACU players scored double-digit points as Sincere Roberts finished with 13, Taliah Lee and Mia Smith chipped in 11, and Talayah Thomas had 10 off the bench.
- Sincere Roberts snatched a team-high nine rebounds, one short of a double-double, while Jordan grabbed six boards.
- The Evangels won the turnover margin at 18-20 and scored more points off turnovers compared to the Bobcats by a 29-15 margin.
- Mid-America Christian suffered its first loss in the Sooner Athletic Conference to drop them to 5-1 on the season. However, even with the loss, the Evangels hold a share of first place in the standings.
- MACU falls to 1-6 all-time against College of the Ozarks, as the Evangels will have to wait another year for their first win over the Bobcats in Point Lookout, Mo.
