Men’s Basketball Set to Host Science & Arts Before Christmas Break

OKLAHOMA CITY – The MACU Men's Basketball team will be seeking to get back above .500 in Sooner Athletic Conference play before the Christmas break as the Evangels host rival Science & Arts for an 8 p.m. tip-off inside the Gaulke Activity Center on Tuesday night.

SEASON REPORT
  • Record: 8-3 (3-3 SAC)
  • Last Game: Won at College of the Ozarks – 78-73 – Dec. 13, 2025 – Point Lookout, Mo.
  • Stat Leaders:
  • Team Notes:
    • After suffering a tough loss against a red-hot shooting John Brown team on Thursday night, Mid-America Christian bounced back at College of the Ozarks on Saturday, holding off a furious Bobcats rally in the second half by sealing the 78-73 result by going 6-for-6 from the free throw line in the final minute.
    • Following his offensive slump toward the end of November, junior forward Morris Williams continued to stay hot on the offensive end for the Evangels netting 20 or more points in each game at John Brown and College of the Ozarks. It marked his fourth and fifth 20-plus point games of the season and his third in a row since the win over No. 5 Nelson on Dec. 6.
    • MACU's success from the free throw line this season has been one of the biggest determining factors for the Evangels. Mid-America Christian owns an 8-0 record when it shoots 73 percent or better as a team from the free throw line, but has shot under 67 percent from the stripe in all three of its losses.
    • In the win over the Bobcats, the Evangels bench came up big by scoring 37 points, 30 of which coming from the duo of James Locke and Clay Baldwin, who were the team's second and third-best scorers in the victory. MACU has fared better in games where the bench is scoring 30 or more points, going 5-1 in such contests while the Evangels are 3-2 in games where they score less than 30 off the bench.

  • Team Notes:
    • Following a tough 0-5 start to SAC play, Science & Arts found its first league win on the road on Saturday as the Drovers went into Siloam Springs, Ark. and stole a 77-70 upset win over John Brown. In that win, USAO got a massive performance out of junior guard Jamouri McCalister, who posted a 14-point, 11-rebound, 11-assist triple-double in the win.
    • Science & Arts enters Tuesday's contest as one of the highest-powered offenses in the NAIA, ranking 12th in the nation and first in the SAC in points per game (90.1) while shooting a league-best 48.5 percent from the field. However, the Drovers have struggled somewhat from the three-point arc and the free throw line, ranking ninth from three-point range (33.0 percent) and second-to-last from the charity stripe (65.4 percent).
    • Despite its offensive prowess, the Drovers have been prone to giving up a lot of points as well, ranking dead-last in the SAC in scoring defense (84.6 ppg) while allowing their opposition to shoot 45.1 percent from the field and 36.8 percent from the arc. However, USAO has been great on the glass this year, leading the conference in rebounding margin at 9.2 per game.
    • After being the team's leading scorer last year, combo guard/forward Mohand Ammad has elevated his game to a new level in his senior campaign, leading the league in scoring average (23.2 ppg) while also ranking second in the SAC in rebounds (7.3 rpg).
    • Mid-America Christian swept the season-series against Science & Arts last season, winning an 87-69 contest inside the Gaulke Activity Center on Jan. 2 before pulling out a thrilling 75-74 victory in Chickasha on Feb. 13 when Juwan White scored the game-winning bucket with three seconds left before coming up with a huge defensive stop at the buzzer.
