OKLAHOMA CITY – No. 13 MACU Baseball prepares to face York in a doubleheader tomorrow afternoon at Putnam City High School with a first pitch set for 1 p.m. Due to field conditions and the weather, the original four-game set at the MACU Baseball Field has been swapped for a two-game match up now at Putnam City. The Evangels will seek to keep the win streak alive coming off three consecutive wins in the Cajun Collision.

  • Mid-America Christian enters the weekend coming off a 4-1 week including 3-1 at the fifth annual Cajun Collision. The Evangels wrapped up the tournament with a 12-7 extra-inning comeback victory over Park. Down 7-4 in the sixth, MACU rallied for eight unanswered runs. Jonluke Hobdy tied it up in the top of the seventh on a two-run shot to center and Payton Matthews recaptured the lead in the top of the eighth on a single through the right side. Carlos Medina then struck a three-run blast to extend the lead to 12-7 and Carlos Escobosa sealed the deal with a scoreless eighth to pick up his second win in relief this season.
  • The Evangels brought home a pair of SAC players of the week in Brock Cordes and Carlos Medina. Cordes tossed a complete game shutout in the 5-0 win over Dakota State. The senior righty fell two outs shy of a no-hitter, he finished the night allowing just two baserunners on a walk and infield single while striking out 11. Medina recorded a hit in all four games of the Cajun to extend his hitting streak to nine games. In five games he went 7-for-12 with two doubles, two homers, five runs batted in and five runs scored. Medina tacked on three walks and a pair of hit-by-pitches to earn him SAC Player of the Week.
  • Fabian Hernandez turned in a gem in his third start of the season, he logged a shutout to make it 14 consecutive innings without an Evangels starting pitcher to allow a run. The Evangels beat Georgetown 4-0 behind Hernandez's seven innings in which he allowed four hits and struck out six while walking just one Bulldogs batter.
  • It was a productive week behind the dish for the Evangels, Zachary Stark recorded a hit in three of his four starts, going 4-for-8 with a double and two walks. Conner Thompson produced as well, in his start against Park he went 2-for-4 with a homer and two runs driven in.
  • It will be the second match up amongst the teams and the first since 2010, in which the MACU won 8-4.

  • York is off to a 3-3 start to the year coming off a 3-0 victory over Hannibal-LaGrange University. Senior right-handed pitcher Ian Beck earned KCAC Pitcher of the Week after he went the distance allowing only a pair of hits and three walks while striking out eight.
  • Heck has been getting it done on both sides of the ball leading the Panthers in both hitting and pitching. He enters this weekend slashing .545 (12-for-22) with 10 runs batted in, five doubles, a homer and an OPS percentage of 1.500. On the bump he has a 2-0 record picking up a victory in his two starts throughout the 2025 early 2025 campaign.
  • As a team York is hitting .310 with a .480 slugging percentage, they have scored 39 runs with 35 runs driven in. On the mound they have posted a solid 3.70 ERA allowing 33 hits in 41.1 innings pitched with 47 strikeouts and holding opponents to a .214 batting average.
  • James McCown has been another strong arm for the Panthers, he has received two no-decisions but nonetheless has turned in two solid outings of one earned run with five innings pitched while fanning five and walking one.
