  • LSUS got on the board first on a solo shot in the bottom of the first by Anthony Swenda and added on another on Diego Aragon's solo blast to right. The Pilots scored two more in the second on a walk and a couple hits to take a 4-0 lead.
  • LSU-Shreveport added one another in the bottom of the sixth to extend the lead to 5-0 where things would ultimately hold up, giving LSUS a 5-0 victory.
  • Gabriel Dixon turned in a productive outing, he turned in six innings allowing five runs, (four earned.) Despite allowing the five runs, Dixon threw well the majority of the game, he allowed four runs in the first two innings but allowed just one unearned run over his final four.

  • One positive from the loss was Jacob Police returning to the lineup, he had gone down in an injury in the first game of the season.
  • With the loss, the Evangels all-time record against the Pilots moves to 1-2 dating back to last season.

PITCHING DECISION TOP PERFORMERS SCORING SUMMARY GAME NOTES
  • Mid-America Christian outhit Dakota State 4-1 allowing them to score five runs to the Trojans zero.
  • MACU got on the board first by pushing four across in the top of the second. With two outs and nobody on, Carlos Medina and Giordany Mendoza were drilled by a pitch to extend the inning. Zachary Stark followed up with an infield single to load up the bases, and D'Andre Gaines manufactured the first run on a four-pitch walk to score Medina. After a wild pitch pushed Mendoza across for the second run, Noel McGarry-Doyle hit a chopper to second base that he legged out while the courtesy runner Dyson Kinnaman scored. Not only did Kinnaman score as Gaines used his speed to his advantage to score all the way from second on the infield single by McGarry-Doyle.
  • Brock Cordes threw up another zero in the top of the second while stranding a DSU runner in scoring position, he got some help from left fielder Payton Matthews who laid out to catch a flyball down the line to prevent the Trojans from scoring.
  • In the top of the third MACU tacked on another on a solo shot to dead center by Medina for his second homer of the season.
  • Cordes was fantastic to say the least, after he allowed a walk with two outs in the top of the second he retired 14 consecutive batters. It was not until the seventh inning with one out and nobody on when Dakota State came through with its first hit of the day on an infield single on a grounder to short that Carlos Medina laid to his left for but unfortunately was unable to come up with. Cordes finished off his brilliant outing by retiring the next two, including his eleventh strikeout of the night to wrap up the one-hit shutout.
  • Medina's solo shot in the fifth extended his hit streak to seven games. He scored two runs which led MACU for the day.
  • Cordes tossed the first complete game shutout of the 2025 season for the Evangels, he allowed only a pair of baserunners on a walk and infield single while striking out 11. He just missed history with a no-hitter falling two outs short.
  • Dyson Kinnaman made an impact coming off the bench, he scored while courtesy running for Zachary Stark and executed a sacrifice bunt in the top of the seventh as well as making a nice play at second base as the defensive replacement in the bottom of the fourth.
  • Noel McGarry-Doyle slashed 1-for-3 with two runs batted in, with two RBIs today he tied Jerry McNew (2013-2017) for second in career RBIs at MACU with 121.
  • It was the first matchup amongst the teams.
UP NEXT
  • MACU wraps up the Cajun Collision tomorrow with another doubleheader taking on Georgetown at 11:00 a.m. and a 2:30 p.m. first pitch against Park.
