No. 17 Baseball Gets Back in Win Column with 12-0 Victory Over Randall

OKLAHOMA CIITY – The No. 17 MACU Baseball team wrapped up a quick 12-0 win that took just over 90 minutes over Randall behind 11 hits and seven innings of shutout ball with three different arms to get the Evangels back in the win column.

PITCHING DECISIONS TOP PERFORMERS SCORING SUMMARY GAME SUMMARY
  • Mid-America Christian got on the scoreboard first with leadoff man Taiga Sakuma lining one down the left field line for a two-bagger and later scored on a sac fly to right by Cristopher Munoz.
  • MACU pushed two more across in the second after D'Andre Gaines worked a free-pass, Jacob Police left the yard for the first time this season on a towering shot to left pushing the lead to 3-0.
  • The Evangels loaded the bases on a couple of hit-by-pitches and a walk with nobody out in the third, but Carlos Medina grounded into a 4-6-3 double play scoring Munoz and Giordany Mendoza stung a grounder up the middle, but Randall shortstop Brayden McMurtrey ranged to his left and threw out Mendoza at first to keep it 4-0 in favor of MACU.
  • McGarry-Doyle laced a double to right-center in the fifth scoring Munoz, he then swiped third and was brought home on a single through the left-side by Brett Justice making it 6-0 Evangels.
  • Jaxon James tossed his second inning of shutout ball in relief, following Andrew Long's four scoreless frames providing MACU with a 6-0 lead entering the bottom of the sixth where they pushed six across capturing a 12-0 advantage.
  • The six run frame included a RBI single down the first base line from Conner Thompson, a two RBI double to left by Sakuma, and a three-run opposite field blast by McGarry-Doyle.
  • Andrws Acosta came in the game out of the bullpen and worked his way around three Saints singles while picking up three strikeouts in the midst of it, allowing MACU to run-away with a 12-0 victory due to the 10 after seven inning rule.
GAME NOTES
  • Mid-America Christian outhit Randall 11-6 without striking out once on offense and taking advantage of the nine free passes allowed by the Saints. MACU walked five times, was drilled by a pitch three times and Randall committed an error.
  • Noel McGarry-Doyle extended his batting streak to 15 games, he went 2-for-2 with a double, homer, two runs, two RBI's, two walks and a pair of stolen bags. With the two stolen bases he ties Sam Lewis (2010) for the school's lead of 41 during the NAIA era (2007-present.)
  • Taiga Sakuma recorded his sixth multi-hit game in only his eleventh start, he went 2-for-4 with a pair of two-baggers, two runs and two RBI's.
  • Jacob Police was the only other Evangel to have more than one hit, he went 2-for-3 with a homer and two runs driven in.
  • Cristopher Munoz had a productive day, he finished 1-for-1 with a sac fly, hit-by-pitch and a walk allowing him to score twice and bat one in.
  • Andrew Long pushed his win-loss record to 3-3, he went four innings allowing no runs on a hit, two walks and four punchouts.
  • Jaxon James tossed his fourth scoreless outing of the season in his fourth appearance; he went two innings allowing two soft-hit singles.
  • With the victory MACU has now won thirteen consecutive games against the Saints.

  • Mid-America Christian returns to conference play with a three-game series at home this weekend against Panhandle State with a first pitch slated for 4:00 p.m. Friday, Mar. 14.
