No. 17 Baseball Set to Host Panhandle State for Weekend Series

OKLAHOMA CITY – No. 13 MACU Baseball team returns to SAC play with a three-game series on the MACU Baseball Field against Panhandle State with a doubleheader scheduled for 4:00 p.m. and 6:30 Saturday and the finale slated for a first pitch at noon on Sunday.

    • Mid-America Christian enters coming off a 12-0 victory at home in the midweek matchup against Randall, outhitting the Saints 11-6 including a pair of jacks from Noel McGarry-Doyle and Jacob Police.
    • Jacob Police returned to the lineup, making his first start at third since opening day back on Jan. 24 in the 5-1 loss to Louisiana Christian. Police made a strong return to the lineup, finishing 2-for-3 with a run and pair of runs driven in.
    • Noel McGarry-Doyle has now recorded a hit in 16 consecutive games, boosting his average to .393, trailing only Cristopher Munoz for the team lead by a slim margin, as Munoz steps in this weekend with a .397 average at the dish. Both rank top ten in the SAC in average with Munoz at fifth and McGarry-Doyle tied for eighth.
    • The Evangels marked the thirteenth win in a row against Randall, dating back to April 29, 2014.

  • Team Notes:
    • Panhandle State checks in this series recipients of four straight losses including getting swept at Bill Smith Ballpark by Science and Arts. In the last game of the series, the Aggies put up a great fight, scoring three in the top of the sixth, taking a 4-3 lead on Alejandro Hernandez's two-RBI double, however the Drovers rallied for a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh with two outs to secure the 5-4 win.
    • The Aggies rank towards the bottom in the SAC on both sides of the ball, ranking ninth in batting average at .259 and last in staff ERA with an 8.90 clip. On offense, they are led by a couple of seniors in Isaiah Helton and Ryota Kusumoto. The duo is the only two OPSU player hitting over .300, as well as tied for the team lead in homers with two apiece.
    • On the mound, Braden Greene, Josh Doerr and Colby Diduch see the majority of the innings, all three arms log over 20 innings tossed and at least six starts made.
