  • Team Notes:
    • Wayland Baptist got a pair of monstrous performances from its two top players in Thursday's 92-75 SAC Quarterfinal win over seventh-seeded John Brown as Kaitlyn Jerden poured in 31 points while Megan Nestor finished with 30 in the victory.
    • The Flying Queens boast one of the best scoring offenses in the NAIA as WBU leads the SAC and ranks sixth in the country in scoring offense (83.4 ppg) while shooting a solid 44.9 percent from the field and 34.4 percent from three-point range. Wayland is also a strong team on the glass, posting the third-best rebounding margin in the league at 9.4, sitting only behind Langston (11.8) and MACU (10.6).
    • WBU is led by a SAC Player of the Year contender in junior forward Megan Nestor, who enters the contest averaging a double-double at 19.8 points and 13.5 rebounds per game, which ranks first and second in the SAC respectively while also boasting by far and away the best shooting percentage in the league and the third-best in the NAIA at 63.2.
    • Kaitlyn Jerden, a five-year member of the WBU women's basketball program has also been a tough customer, as the SAC Freshman of the Year (2020-21) and two-time All-SAC honoree is averaging 17.3 ppg on a solid 46.8 percent shooting, including 39.2 percent from three and 74.4 percent from the free throw line.
    • Even though the Flying Queens swept the season series from MACU, both matchups went down to the wire as the Evangels had a chance to win each game. In their meeting inside the Gaulke on Jan. 11, WBU went on a 16-4 run over the final six minutes to steal an 83-81 win. Matching up just two weeks ago on Feb. 20, the Evangels gave the Flying Queens their toughest contest inside the Hutcherson Center this year. While Shy Christopher was able to tie it up on a baseline layup with 1:19 left, the Flying Queens came up with a huge bucket on the ensuing possession and eventually put the game away from the free throw line as MACU's buzzer-beating game-tying three was off the mark in a 77-74 defeat.
