Shy Christopher Collects NAIA All-America Second Team Acclaim

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) unveiled its 2024-25 Women's Basketball All-America list on Monday morning and for the first time in program history, Mid-America Christian had a standout selected with senior guard Shy Christopher being tabbed to the Second Team.

It is the second time that the three-year guard is receiving a recognition from the NAIA as she was named an NAIA All-America Honorable Mention selection following the 2022-23 season, adding another accolades after receiving her third NCCAA All-America First Team selection last week and was also tabbed a three-time All-Sooner Athletic Conference First Team honoree.

Christopher closed out her final ride with the Evangels on a high note, helping lead MACU to its first ever appearance at the NAIA Tournament final site to the Round of 16, while putting up a pair of incredible games in the NAIA Tournament First and Second Round. The Jacksonville, Arkansas native scored 30 points in the opening round win over Northwestern (Iowa) on Mar. 14 before dropping a career-high 40 points in the Second Round victory over Kansas Wesleyan on Mar. 15, becoming just the fourth Evangel in the NAIA Era (2007-present) to score 40 or more points in a game.

The senior guard capped off her incredible career with a strong game against No. 5 Briar Cliff in the Round of 16 on Mar. 21, scoring 21 points, gathering seven rebounds and dishing out three assists in MACU's season finale.

Once again, Christopher notched multiple NAIA Era season scoring marks, setting top marks in: points (587, 6th), points per game (17.3, 8th), made field goals (218, 6th) and made free throws (129, 5th). Christopher is one of only two players in program history to finish with top 10 season marks in all four statistical categories three separate times.

The dynamic guard also wrapped up an incredible career that saw her set several marks in the NAIA Era record book, including: points (1699, 2nd), points per game (18.3, 2nd), rebounds (488, 6th), rebounding average (5.2, 10th), assists (221, 6th), made field goals (634, 2nd), field goal percentage (48.2, 4th), made free throws (377, 1st), free throw percentage (73.5, 10th) and games played (93, 10th).
