KANSAS CITY – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced its 2025 Women's Basketball Tournament field on Thursday evening and after earning one of the Sooner Athletic Conference's two automatic bids, Mid-America Christian earned the No. 7 seed in the Olathe, Kansas First and Second Round bracket.
The Evangels earned an automatic berth to the tournament after advancing all the way to the SAC Championship game as MACU enters the NAIA Tournament with an overall record of 25-6 and finished third in the SAC standings with a 19-5 league mark.
It is the fifth consecutive year that the Evangels have received a bid to the NAIA Tournament under ninth-year head coach Hannah Moeller. Under Moeller, the Evangels have won 20 or more games in eight seasons with the lone exception being the COVID-19 impacted 2020-21 season where the Evangels played just 12 games, won the program's first SAC regular season title and qualified for the program's first NAIA Tournament.
The Evangels notched some big wins during the course of the 2024-25 campaign, including beating last year's national finalist No. 2 Providence (Mont.) by a score of 69-64 inside the Gaulke Activity Center to open the season on Nov. 2 as well as notching a 97-67 win over No. 20 Wayland Baptist in the SAC Semifinal on Monday.
MACU is led into the postseason by a pair of All-SAC First Team performers in Shy Christopher and Kylee Scheer, who earned All-Conference honors on Wednesday, making history at MACU with it being the first time the Evangels had two players selected to the prestigious top team.
The NAIA Tournament First and Second Rounds will take place on March 14-15 as the Evangels will be matched up against No. 10 seed Northwestern (Iowa) in its first round game at 8 p.m. inside the Cook Center on the campus of MidAmerica Nazarene University on March 14.
