  • Team Notes:
    • Mid-America Christian enters off a massive three-game sweep over Texas Wesleyan. Posting the sweep over the Rams was a first for the program and helped move up a game in the SAC standings after Wayland Baptist dropped a game to Oklahoma City. Although both teams currently have a 16-5 record, the Pioneers would have the higher seed due to winning the series over MACU.
    • Nonetheless after a pair of close wins by a 4-2 and 11-8 score, the Evangels blew it open in game three for a 14-1 victory to accomplish the sweep. MACU banged a season-high 16 hits in game three including three homers, the starting pitching was solid as well, Brock Cordes moved to 4-0 after tossing six innings of one-run ball on just two hits, three walks and six strikeouts.
    • Offensively it was no surprise to see Noel McGarry-Doyle continue to mash, he finished the week 6-for-10 with two homers, three runs, seven runs driven in, a walk and two stolen bases. After that strong week McGarry-Doyle was honored with SAC Player of the Week for the second time this season.
    • Fabian Hernandez was given his third SAC Pitcher of the Week this season, he tossed a gem in game one against TXWES, he received a no-decision, but he went seven innings allowing two runs (one earned), behind seven hits, two walks and five strikeouts. Hernandez lowered his team leading ERA under the three-run mark at 2.95.
    • The Evangels also shattered another season record, this time in the stolen base category, with now 113 MACU broke the previous record of 107 that was done all the way back in 2010.

    • Nelson's offense has been a great contribution to its success, the Lions have scored 10 or more runs in 15 out of its 22 victories this season. In games in which the Lions have scored less than five runs though, they carry a 3-13 record.
    • As a staff the Lions rank sixth in the SAC in ERA with a 6.77 rate, but their top arms log exactly 51.2 innings tossed on the season. Ryan Avalos leads the staff with 51 punchouts across 12 appearances. Javier Balderas plays a big role as well with 51.2 innings and a 3-3 record in his 11 appearances including ten starts.
    • MACU has beaten Nelson in the regular season in four of the last five seasons and will seek to make it five of six this weekend.
