OKLAHOMA CITY – With the adoption of a new Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament format, the No. 19 MACU Baseball program will be hosting its first ever league tournament games this upcoming weekend.
Changing the format from a two-site, double elimination format, the new SAC Tournament format is an eight-team format where the top four seeds will host a best of three series from Apr. 25-26. Each series will open with a doubleheader on Apr. 25 with an "if necessary" game being played on Apr. 26.
The four remaining teams will then play a double elimination at the final site at Bill Smith Ballpark on the campus of Science & Arts in Chickasha, Oklahoma from May 2-4.
Previously, the tournament had been jointly hosted between Oklahoma City and Science & Arts since the 2016 season.
This year, the Evangels earned the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament after finishing the regular season with a 35-13 overall record and a 20-7 mark in league play, marking the second-straight season MACU finished with 20 SAC victories.
Mid-America Christian will host No. 7 seed Nelson at the MACU Baseball Field this weekend with the series-opening doubleheader slated for 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. If the series requires a third game to determine who will advance, the "if necessary" contest will take place on Saturday at 1 p.m.
