SCORING SUMMARY GAME SUMMARY
  • Mid-America Chirstian's starting pitcher Brock Cordes worked his way out of a first-and-third one-out jam by inducing an infield pop-up and strike out, keeping Texas Wesleyan off the board in the first.
  • Taiga Sakuma started off the Evangel bats with a triple down the first-base line, setting up a great opportunity for MACU to score, D'Andre Gaines then brought Sakuma and himself home on a two-run blast to right-center, providing the Evangels with an early 2-0 lead.
  • Sakuma welcomed Rams reliever Jacob Guzman into the game with a solo shot to right to lead off the third, Cristopher Munoz then reached on an error, and Noel McGarry-Doyle singled to center, making it first-and-third with nobody out. Carlos Medina then came up with a sac fly to left, plating Munoz and making it 4-0. After McGarry-Doyle swiped two, Brett Justice brought him home on a clutch two-out single to left, extending the advantage to 5-0 for the Evangels.
  • Brock Cordes allowed his first hit of the contest in the fourth on a leadoff double to Ryan Flores, however he retired the next two and picked off Flores at second to retire the threat.
  • The Evangels added on another in the fourth on back-to-back hits by Giordany Mendoza and Conner Thompson, Mendoza was thrown out at third trying to advance, but Payton Matthews courtesy ran for Thompson and scored after stealing third and scoring on the overthrow by the catcher, making it 6-0 MACU.
  • MACU blew it open in the fifth, scoring seven runs on six hits including a two-RBI single by Jonluke Hobdy, an RBI double by Thompson and a three-run shot by Cristopher Munoz, extending the advantage to 13-0.
  • Brandon Rincones began the sixth with a single and came around to score on a wild pitch, putting TXWES on the board.
  • MACU got the run back in the bottom half of the frame, Medina and Jason Thurman singled, Payton Matthews walked and Taiga Sakuma scored Jason Thurman on a free pass.
  • Bradley Waite was called upon from the MACU bullpen in the seventh and worked his way around a leadoff walk, tossing a scoreless frame and allowing the Evangels to wrap it up early by run rule with a 14-1 win.
